Various groups appreciate President Jokowi’s concrete steps in the Russia-Ukraine peace mission
Jakarta — General Secretary of the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership, Abdul Mu’ti, expressed high appreciation for President Jokowi’s brave steps in his efforts to reconcile Russia and Ukraine. President Jokowi’s visit to the two countries is considered an implementation of the mandate of the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution which emphasizes the importance of Indonesia’s role in creating world peace.
“We appreciate the brave steps taken by President Jokowi for Russian-Ukrainian peace,” said Abdul Mu’ti. He hopes that in carrying out this peace mission, President Jokowi and his entourage will always be given protection and safety by Allah SWT, and that these peaceful efforts can be achieved.
Abdul Mu’ti emphasized that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine must be stopped immediately, considering the huge impact it has had. “This war has caused many casualties, not only among soldiers, but also civilians. “Apart from that, the infrastructure damage that occurred also had a direct impact on the world economy, including Indonesia,” he said. He stressed the importance of stopping war for the sake of humanity and global stability.
Furthermore, Abdul Mu’ti explained that Indonesia has the potential to play a bigger role as a facilitator and mediator in the dialogue between Russia and Ukraine.
“Indonesia can play a bigger role as a dialogue facilitator and mediator, considering Indonesia’s good relations with Russia and Ukraine,” he added. This shows that Indonesia has a strategic position to help reduce tensions between the two countries.
After visiting Kyiv, Ukraine, President Jokowi continued his journey to Moscow to meet directly with President Vladimir Putin. In the meeting which took place at the Kremlin, Jokowi emphasized the importance of dialogue and peaceful resolution of the ongoing tensions, as well as conveying a message from Zelenskyy who wanted peace. This visit not only shows Indonesia’s commitment to global diplomacy, but also strengthens Indonesia’s position as a country that can be a communication bridge between parties in conflict.
In this context, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi also said that President Jokowi’s visit received positive attention from various parties, including big countries. Retno emphasized that peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine is very important and is the main focus of Indonesian diplomacy.
“The President’s visit to Kyiv and Moscow shows Indonesia’s commitment to contributing to creating peace,” he said.
Retno also added that Indonesia is committed to continuing to maintain good relations with all parties, including Russia and Ukraine, for the sake of creating global stability.
In a meeting in Jakarta with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Yi, Retno also said that China appreciated Indonesia’s efforts to peacefully resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
“Peaceful resolution of the current situation in Ukraine includes specific mention of the President’s visit to Kyiv and Moscow,” said Foreign Minister Retno.
With the steps taken by President Jokowi, it is hoped that Indonesia can continue to play an active role in international diplomacy and become a bridge for countries facing conflict. Appreciation from Muhammadiyah and various other parties shows that the community supports the peace efforts carried out by the government. Through this mission, Indonesia not only shows concern for global issues, but also strengthens its position as a country committed to creating a more peaceful and stable world.
