A Number of Figures Ask the Community to Maintain an Increasingly Conducive Situation
North Morowali – After the clash at PT. Gunbuster Nickel Industry (GNI) some time ago, the situation has become more conducive where TKI and TKA work as usual and company operations are running normally, although they are still guarded by security forces.
A number of religious leaders, community leaders, traditional leaders and other mass organizations gave statements regarding the more conducive situation in North Morowali (Morut) and at PT. GNI. According to them, if the situation is conducive then investment activity in the Morut area will progress. Thus, welfare and economic growth in the Morut area will also increase.
In this regard, the Chairperson of the Central Sulawesi Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI Central Sulawesi), Habib Ali bin Muhammad Aljufri hopes that all parties can exercise restraint so that similar incidents do not happen again.
“After all, investment activities have benefits for the community. This problem must be resolved and mediated quickly because the losses incurred are not only experienced by PT GNI, but also other parties,” he said.
Rais Syuriah Branch Manager of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PCNU) Branch of North Morowali Regency, ustadz Faisal Dg. Siame, gave an appeal to all people and employees of PT. GNI to assist in creating a conducive situation.
“I appeal to all North Morowali people to continue their activities as usual, especially to all employees, workers who are within the scope of PT. GNI,” he said.
The same thing was conveyed by the Chairperson of the Tolitoli PCNU, Jabir Rabbile, namely to avoid further incidents, it is necessary to have a meeting of TKA and TKI once a month or three months. This is important so that there is no gap between TKA and TKI. In addition, it can bring up interaction and harmony between the two parties.
“The presence of foreign companies in our country is a must in order to be able to absorb labor and reduce unemployment rates in the regions, then improve the economy of local communities,” said Jabir Rabbile.
Meanwhile, the customary leader of Wulanderi Bunta, North Morowali Regency, Drs. J. Pode Tobogu said that the presence of PT. GNI can provide a multiplier effect that can improve the economy of the people in the Morut area.
“The Bunta indigenous people support the presence of PT. GNI for making a big contribution to Morut Regency and increasing non-tax, user and CSR state revenues,” he said.
Meanwhile, Head of the Morut Early Community Alertness Forum (FKDM), Waris Kandori hopes that all parties will carry out an evaluation so that the incident at PT GNI does not happen again. The people of Morut respond positively to the existence of investment, because it is able to provide an increase in the people’s economy. Previously, to strengthen the ties of brotherhood with residents and local workers, PT GNI held social activities in the form of providing assistance to orphanages and competitions which were participated in by TKI and TKA to welcome the 2023 Chinese New Year celebration. This activity was carried out aiming to create a conducive situation, and harmonization occurs between workers so that investment activities can run normally.
