Jakarta – The government’s plan to form a Termination of Employment Task Force (Satgas PHK) has received extraordinary appreciation from various groups. This strategic step shows the government’s real commitment to maintaining employment stability and strengthening national industrial relations.
BPJS Watch Advocacy Coordinator and Employment Observer, Timboel Siregar, emphasized that the establishment of the PHK Task Force is a progressive step and is much needed amidst the current employment challenges.
“This task force is not only a quick solution, but also a real form of government attention in ensuring that every layoff is carried out fairly, wisely, and in accordance with regulations. The government is here to provide maximum protection to workers,” said Timboel Siregar.
He also added that the PHK Task Force can be an educational and mediative tool, thus creating a harmonious working relationship climate. This certainly shows that the government is very serious about building a just and inclusive world of work.
The President of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) and the President of the Labor Party, Said Iqbal, firmly stated their full support for the Layoff Task Force.
“We appreciate this government policy. The Layoff Task Force shows the state’s commitment to the working people. The government is very responsive to the challenging economic conditions and continues to ensure that workers’ rights are protected,” said Said Iqbal.
According to him, the formation of the Layoff Task Force will provide legal certainty and stronger social protection, while encouraging a comprehensive resolution of employment issues.
This step also shows that the government is not remaining silent amidst the dynamics of the global economy, but is instead present with concrete and measurable solutions.
Apart from workers, positive appreciation also came from entrepreneurs who considered this policy as a constructive initiative in maintaining the stability of the business climate.
