Jakarta – Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Mardani Ali Sera, said that it is important to strengthen cooperation between member countries of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) in building a more peaceful and just future for the Islamic world.
Mardani Ali Sera quoted the holy verse of the Qur’an, Surah Al-Hujurat verse 13, which emphasizes the value of unity and mutual recognition between nations.
“This verse teaches us that diversity is strength. Therefore, we must strengthen relations, strengthen solidarity, and encourage cooperation between parliaments of Muslim countries,” said Mardani.
Furthermore, Mardani emphasized that the 19th PUIC Conference is very special because it coincides with the 25th anniversary of the founding of PUIC.
“This is not only a moment of reflection, but also an opportunity to renew our commitment to the principles of peace, justice, human rights, and economic development,” he added.
In addition, this forum is part of the ongoing efforts of the DPR RI BKSAP to strengthen Indonesia’s parliamentary diplomacy in the international arena.
“We believe that solid cooperation among Islamic countries will be a new force to fight for global justice,” said Mardani.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of the DPR RI, Puan Maharani said that Indonesia is ready to host the PUIC forum professionally and oriented towards results.
“Hosting PUIC is an honor and a great responsibility for Indonesia. We want to make this forum a momentum to strengthen the solidarity of Islamic countries in facing global challenges, while at the same time emphasizing Indonesia’s role as a bridge for dialogue and cooperation between Islamic countries,” said Puan.
Puan also said that countries in the world must promote diplomacy and dialogue in resolving international disputes. Including the long-standing Palestinian issue.
“Despite the strong pressure faced by each of our countries in dealing with domestic and international crises, we must not forget the necessity to pursue peace and justice for Palestine,” she said.
The PUIC forum also aims to promote Islamic values and increase the role of Islamic countries in the global arena. In addition, PUIC plays an important role in increasing solidarity and cooperation among Islamic countries throughout the world. ***
