CIDDIS – Presidential and legislative elections will be held next year. Although there is still time, the atmosphere of the democratic party can be felt at this time. The implementation of the presidential and legislative elections simultaneously like next year is the first time to be held at this time. Of course in the implementation later, it will not escape a number of errors and shortcomings.
The community and the media play an important role in the implementation of the Legislative Election and the presidential election which will be held simultaneously in 2019. This is considering the implementation of the same election as this for the first time so that it is hoped that there will be good cooperation between the community, the media and election organizers so that everything can work well. Strict supervision from the public and mass media is needed.
Regarding this matter, it is good for the electoral organizers to continue to deepen their understanding of the General Election Law Number 7 of 2017 because there are some things that have changed. One of them is a change related to the number of voters in polling stations (TPS) which must be reduced from 400 people to 300 people. With this reduction, the voting time will be longer and the option to increase the number of TPS is taken into account.
In addition, the massive implementation of this democratic party will certainly invite a number of parties to commit corruption. Admittedly or not, corruption and money politics are commonly practiced by most people so that to prevent this, strict supervision from certain parties is needed. Honorary Board Member of the General Election Organizer, Alfitra Salamm said that his party would give strict sanctions against the election organizers from the center to the regions who were caught receiving honorarium from political parties.
Seeing all of the above, it cannot be denied that the implementation of the general elections in 2019 will be heavier than in previous years. For this reason, community participation is needed in order to support the implementation of safe and peaceful elections. The smooth process of a country’s general election can be one indicator to see the stability of a country’s political climate.
