Peace Campaign For Better Indonesia

277

CIDDIS – Some time ago, during the implementation of the peaceful general election 2019 declaration, the Democratic Party launched a protest against the Republic of Indonesia General Election Commission which took place in the Monas area on September 23, 2018. One of the protests carried out during the implementation of the declaration was the walk out conducted by Democratic Party Chairperson Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY).

According to Democrat Party Secretary General Hinca Panjaitan, SBY walked out because he saw a number of rules that were violated and not in accordance with the initial agreement to carry out a peaceful campaign declaration. One of the rules that was considered inappropriate was the number of political party attributes at the event so that the peaceful campaign program seemed to be a political campaign event. He reminded the KPU to be firm in enforcing the rules agreed upon together. In addition, such declarations have been agreed upon with the traditional dress rules and do not carry party attributes, except those provided by the KPU.

In addition to the walk outs, in the event the presidential election candidates for the 2019 Presidential Election, Joko Widodo-Ma’ruf Amin and Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno made promises to the peaceful campaign declaration. The peaceful declaration of the 2019 Election was read by the Chairperson of the General Election Commission Arief Budiman who was followed by the general chairman of the 2019 General Election participants and representatives of the DKI Jakarta Regional Representative Council.

Walk out is one way for political parties to show their disapproval of one thing. A peaceful campaign was carried out to give statements to all parties so that the campaign was carried out in accordance with the applicable rules, with the aim of creating a peaceful and conducive 2019 General Election. It is expected that all parties can realize this.
