Global Situation Makes Vulnerable, Job Creation Perppu Strengthens Indonesia’s Economic Resilience
Jakarta – President Joko Widodo issued a Government Regulation in Lieu of a Job Creation Law (Perppu) in the midst of the current uncertain global situation, to strengthen the resilience of the Indonesian economy.
A number of figures expressed their views on the Indonesian government’s steps to increase the country’s economic resilience by implementing various policies, including the Job Creation Perppu, in a national webinar initiated by the Moya Institute (03/03).
Present at the webinar, Professor of Business Law UGM, Prof. Nindyo Pramono, considered that the world is currently facing a lot of disruptions, this is a long-term impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, including climate change to the wars between Russia and Ukraine. So to be able to deal with all these conditions, the government issued a Job Creation Perppu.
“The data has also shown that with the existence of the Ciptaker Law, investors responded very positively to this, because it was an effort by the government to carry out structural reforms. It is clear that the existence of these structural reforms has a positive impact on increasing foreign investment in Indonesia,” said Prof. Nindyo.
Political observer Emrus Sihombing also believes that according to the name of this law, namely Job Creation, creates jobs, in the future Indonesian people will no longer apply for jobs abroad. However, there will be many people who set up businesses. This includes facilitating individual PT licensing, MSME and so on.
“There are many benefits from the issuance of the Job Creation Perppu, the main thing is that MSME actors will greatly benefit because of the ease of licensing so that it gives them hope and optimism,” said the Permanent Lecturer at the Pelita Harapan University Postgraduate Program.
His party even emphasized that it was not excessive if it was indeed considered that the Job Creation Perppu was one of the answers for creating people’s welfare in the economic field.
“Because it has a lot of conveniences for managing MSMEs so that at one point it is able to break down the social establishment which has so far been the character of employees in the society that has been formed so far, it actually becomes the paradigm of an entrepreneur and owner,” he concluded.
Also present, the Deputy Minister of Manpower, Afriansyah Noor, explained the PKWT issue, which turned out to be incorrect. There was an assumption that PKWT could be contracted for life, as well as other wrong issues. This is clear in the Job Creation Perppu.
“There are a number of other issues, such as if the weekly rest time owned by workers is reduced by the Perppu is not true, in fact what is true is how much rest depends on the company,” he said.
The Job Creation Perppu has many benefits for the community and business actors, especially in providing legal certainty and preventing abuse of power. The government continues to pay attention to people’s aspirations and communicates openly with stakeholders to create policies that are more inclusive and sustainable.
