Jakarta – Many parties highly appreciate the strong commitment of the Government of Indonesia to continue holding the 2024 elections in a timely manner and are not at all affected by the decision of the Central Jakarta District Court (PN), and continue to strive to maintain a democratic climate in Indonesia.

As one of the most democratic countries in the world, Indonesia does have its own uniqueness, which is also a challenge in holding general elections (Pemilu) and elections to the regions (Pilkada) directly and simultaneously in many regions at once.

Of course, with the holding of a democratic party in the form of general elections in 2024, it will be able to give democratic rights to more than 17 million people spread across more than 200 regions, to be able to choose candidates who will carry out the mandate to become President, Vice President, Governors, Mayors. to the Regent.

The active participation of all elements of society in Indonesia is very important, because when they use their political matters correctly, then of course the implementation of this democratic party will not be in vain. How could it not be, the article is that the involvement of the people themselves is not just in terms of that they take part in the election, but also is involved in the supervision and monitoring aspect so that the best leaders can be chosen purely with the support of the majority of the people. With this in mind, of course in the future development programs in the country will be in accordance with the aspirations of the people who have elected these leaders.

Regarding the imminent holding of the 2024 elections, Member of Commission II of the Republic of Indonesia House of Representatives (DPR RI), Guspardi Gaus emphasized that his party remains strongly committed to supporting the implementation of the 2024 elections so that they can continue according to the schedule agreed upon by the DPR and the government. RI.

Firmly, he stated that Commission II of the DPR RI had never discussed the possibility of postponing the 2024 elections, either in a limited meeting or in a plenary meeting. Precisely according to him, the concept of postponing elections itself is not in the constitution at all, so if the elections are postponed, it will clearly conflict with the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.

So it is clear that all factions in Commission II of the DPR RI have absolutely no desire to postpone the 2024 elections. Even the election budget itself has also been agreed upon, including according to Guspardi Gaus that the regulations have been approved, and supervision of the holding of elections has also been carried out by Commission II DPR RI. Meanwhile, the election stage itself has even started since June 14, 2022.

On the other hand, the General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia itself asked all levels of election organizers at the provincial and city-district levels to continue the simultaneous election stages, following an appeal process regarding the decision of the Central Jakarta District Court (PN).

KPU RI member Idhan Holid stated that the holding of elections in the regions was not at all affected by the PN’s decision, because the chairman of the KPU RI had confirmed that his party would appeal. Even though the Central Jakarta District Court asked the Indonesian KPU not to carry out the remaining stages of the 2024 Election, all provincial KPUs and city-district KPUs continued to carry out the gradual process.

Not only that, even the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, has received a visit from the KPU to report on the progress of the 2024 Election and he hopes that the 2024 Election and Pilkada will continue smoothly and on time.

For all the firm commitments held by the DPR RI, KPU RI and even the President of the Republic of Indonesia, the Political Observer who is also the founder of the KedaiKOPI Survey Institute gives high appreciation to the Government. He considered that the government was very good because it continued to be committed to holding elections and had upheld democracy.

In addition, the Executive Director of Indonesian Presidential Studies (IPS), Nyarwi Ahmd also said that President Jokowi’s meeting with the KPU was a form of commitment from the government to continue to maintain democracy in Indonesia. The existence of this meeting also clearly became a rebuttal regarding the election issue which seemed to report that there would be a postponement of the election.

It cannot be denied that the process of organizing the 2024 elections is part of the democratic party in Indonesia, which also shows that this country is a nation that highly respects every voting right of its people. So that the government’s strong commitment to being able to hold the 2024 elections in a timely manner and not at all affected by the Central Jakarta District Court Decision deserves the highest appreciation.
