CIDISS. National Santri Day Commemoration in 2018 was held in Bandung City, West Java. The activity with the theme ‘Together with the Peaceful Santri Negeri’ will be centered on Gasibu Square, Bandung, on Sunday (10/21/2018) night, a number of religious leaders and state officials including the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, the Indonesian Minister of Religion, Lukman Hakim Saefudin and the Governor West Java, Ridwan Kamil was present at this event. In addition, this event was enlivened by the presence of top artists.

The event titled Santriversary was held at Gasibu Square, Bandung. Jokowi left for Bandung on Sunday afternoon from the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and several ministers. The event was the last series of Santri Day celebrations. The Ministry of Religion, a number of Islamic community organizations, and Islamic boarding schools throughout Indonesia have previously held a number of events to celebrate National Santri Day.

In the culmination of the event the President delivered a speech to the students about the choice differences in the 2019 Pileg and Pilpres, different choices in politics were normal, said Jokowi, as long as the differences did not break the values ​​of unity and unity. Jokowi said this when addressing tens of thousands of students attending the peak of the National Santri Day celebration at Gasibu Square, Jalan Diponegoro, Bandung City, West Java, Sunday (10/21/2018).

“The students, different choices are okay. The name is different choices at a democratic party every five years, there must be. But don’t let our fellow Muslims slander each other, fellow nationals, we mutually disparage each other,” said Jokowi.

This year’s National Santri Day Celebration is the third time. Jokowi set Santri Day on October 22. The decision was stated in Presidential Decree No. 22 of 2015 concerning Santri Day.
