Jakarta — President Jokowi revealed that all ASEAN member countries will attend the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo in May.

“Yes, all ASEAN members are present,” he said.

Apart from Indonesia, ASEAN member countries are Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Timor Leste.

In 2023, Indonesia will officially become the chairman of the organizer of the ASEAN Summit.

The Head of State stated that the condition of Indonesia’s current leadership is indeed not easy because it has to face many global challenges and crises.

“This year, Indonesia became the Chair of ASEAN in the midst of a very difficult global situation. Economic crises, energy crises, food crises, wars, everything is happening,” said Jokowi.

Meanwhile, Member of the United Development Party (PPP) Fraction, DPR RI, Achmad Baidowi is very optimistic about the success of Indonesia’s chairmanship at the ASEAN Summit including its positive impact on member countries.

“We are optimistic that success will be achieved, both in holding the Summit itself and in a series of previous activities since the beginning of 2023, including the positive impact after the ASEAN Summit,” he said.

Furthermore, he explained that the success of the ASEAN Summit in Indonesia also had a positive impact on the economic sector.

The arrival of all member countries to the country is certainly able to open up investment opportunities and improve the image of tourism to trade in Indonesia.

“For example, the arrival of the participants is an opportunity to bring investment. Moreover, it is estimated that thousands of people will come so that it will be a sign of improving Indonesia’s image and bringing in revenue from the tourism and trade sectors,” said Achmad Baidowi.

It cannot be denied, entirely because Indonesia is indeed one of the countries that has survived the blows of the recession and has even continued to achieve positive economic growth.

Even these achievements beat other developed countries in Europe.

So that the determination of the big theme ‘ASEAN Matters: Epicenter of Growth’ by Indonesia as chairman of the 2023 ASEAN Summit had a very good impact on all parties.

“We know that consulting agencies, international rating agencies and international media have predicted that Indonesia is unlikely to be hit by a recession, while still achieving relatively high economic growth of around 4.8 percent,” he explained.

“Europe and America have a different fate, which was more affected by the war in Ukraine,” continued the member of the Republic of Indonesia DPR from the PPP faction.

Indonesia’s success in continuing to experience increased economic growth during the world crisis and the many partnerships that this nation has forged with other developed countries in the world can certainly bring very positive effects.

“This will enable ASEAN to transmit positive effects to the world economy. It is only natural for Indonesia to choose the theme of the ASEAN Summit which emphasizes the importance of ASEAN as a center for world economic growth,” said Baidowi.
