All Parties Play a Role in Eradicating Drugs

Jakarta – Eradicating drugs is a shared responsibility that requires active participation from all levels of society. In facing the major challenges of drug trafficking and abuse, Indonesia requires a collaborative approach involving the government, educational institutions, the private sector, communities, and families as fundamental elements in shaping the nation’s character.
The government plays a key role in leading and coordinating drug eradication efforts. The administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to eradicating drugs throughout Indonesia.
Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs, Budi Gunawan, stated that the government has a firm commitment to eradicating narcotics.
“The government has formulated three main commitments to strengthen national synergy. We integrate drug eradication through cross-sector cooperation so that ministries and institutions can coordinate more effectively in handling narcotics problems,” he said.
“The government is also accelerating the freezing of accounts used for narcotics transactions as a firm step to cut off the flow of funds for drug networks. In addition, we ensure that the execution of sentences for narcotics convicts who have received permanent legal decisions is carried out without delay to provide a significant deterrent effect,” Budi added.
In addition, the government is also strengthening the regulatory framework by updating laws related to narcotics. The goal is to ensure a strong legal basis for imposing strict sanctions on perpetrators, while encouraging rehabilitation efforts for victims of abuse.
Likewise, the Chief of Police, Listyo Sigit Prabowo, assessed that his party supports the maximum punishment for drug dealers and kingpins in Indonesia.
“The importance of giving maximum punishment to drug dealers and dealers. To break the control of the network from within the correctional institution, drug criminals will be placed in facilities with super tight security,” said the Chief of Police, Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
In addition, communities and society have an important role in creating a drug-free environment. A community-based approach allows for early detection of suspicious activity, while encouraging reporting to authorities. Communities can also play an active role in educating community members about the dangers of drugs and how to prevent them.
