ASEAN Summit DRIVES THE ACCELERATION OF INFRASTRUCTURE FOR COMMUNITIES

Labuan Bajo – The government through the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information (Kemenkominfo) continues to optimize preparations for the implementation of the ASEAN Summit, including optimizing the 5G network.

Head of the Telecommunication Monitoring Center Team for the Directorate General of Post and Information Technology (Ditjen PPI), Indra Apriadi said that the public can access the 5G network from a number of points, especially at event venues.

“Regarding 4G cellular services, it is 94.51 percent and at several points there is already a 5G signal,” he explained.

He added that the cellular network connection in Labuan Bajo is quite capable, with 1,638 Base Transceiver Stations (BTS), consisting of 1,635 4G BTS and three 5G BTS.

Not only that, telecommunications access at the tip of Flores Island is also strengthened by a 3,773.73 kilometer (km) fiber-optic network.

According to Indra, the readiness of the network infrastructure for the 42nd ASEAN Summit is fully supported by the national telecommunications operator company Telkom Group.

The State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) is providing Combat BTS and upgrading a number of existing BTS in the Golomori and Labuan Bajo areas.

The Ministry of Communication and Informatics continues to ensure that the telecommunications services run smoothly by monitoring infrastructure and the quality of telecommunications services during the Summit.

“We supervise the quality of service and public complaints for 24 hours and we make sure that we will take special care regarding this (ASEAN Summit) event,” added Indra.

On a different occasion, the head of Nanga Nae Hamlet, Macang Tanggar Village, Labuan Bajo, Abdul Haris appreciated the various efforts to improve infrastructure, including the condition of roads in his area.

Furthermore, Abdul revealed that the repair of the Golo Mori-Labuan Bajo road, including Warloka Village and Kacang Tagar, Komodo District, had cut the journey of its residents.

“We, the people, are very grateful for the construction of this road. Previously, we wanted to go to the city of Labuan Bajo. It took 2 hours, now it only takes 15 to 30 minutes,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Traditional Leader of Kampung Kaper, Martinus Rubus expressed his gratitude to President Joko Widodo and fully supported the 2023 ASEAN Summit.

According to him, the 2023 ASEAN Summit held in Labuan Bajo had an impact on improving the welfare of the local community.

“We support the 2023 ASEAN Summit, thank you Mr. Jokowi, we support one hundred percent of the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo to advance society,” said Martinus.
