Australia Fully Supports Indonesia’s Chair at the 2023 ASEAN Summit

Jakarta — The Minister of Finance (RI Minister of Finance), Sri Mulyani said that Australia provided full support to Indonesia for chairing this nation at the 2023 ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo.

This support was expressed by the Minister of Finance of Australia, Jim Chalmers to Sri Mulyani.

Not only supporting, but Jim hopes that there will be integration regarding the agenda contained in the previous G20 event and also how the 2023 ASEAN Summit will be held in the future.

When there is good integration between the two forums, he believes that he will be able to help achieve goals more optimally.

“Australia believes that it is necessary to integrate the G20 agenda and the ASEAN agenda to ensure the achievement of goals (deliverables) in both forums,” wrote Sri Mulyani.

Support for RI’s chairmanship in the ASEAN Summit also came from within the country, namely from the former Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora RI), Zainudi Amali.

“In principle, we support what was conveyed by the Foreign Minister and the direction from the Coordinating Minister for PMK, for Indonesia to become the chair of ASEAN in 2023,” he said.

In the same vein, the Head of DKI Jakarta Provincial Cooperation Bureau, Marulina Dewi, admitted that her party is committed to fully supporting and striving for the success of holding the 2023 ASEAN Summit.

According to him, this support is also able to provide the public with more information about this international event led by RI.

“This also provides public awareness to the public regarding the 2023 ASEAN Chairmanship,” he said.

It is undeniable that with Indonesia’s chairmanship at the ASEAN Summit this time it will be able to become a stage for Indonesia to be able to lead regional countries and make real contributions and provide solutions to global challenges.

President Jokowi said that Indonesia’s chairmanship at the ASEAN Summit this time was not easy because there were many global situations and challenges that had to be overcome.

“Indonesia became Chair of ASEAN in the midst of a very difficult global situation. Economic crises, energy crises, food crises, wars, everything is happening,” he said.

Furthermore, the President said that ASEAN’s role is not only to contribute to peace, but also to maintain stability in the Indo Pacific, and maintain economic growth.

“ASEAN will continue to contribute to peace and stability in the Indo Pacific. That ASEAN will continue to be able to maintain economic growth and according to our theme ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth,” said President Jokowi.
