Labuan Bajo – The security forces of the TNI, Polri and BIN are determined to continue to oversee security in the implementation of the 2023 ASEAN Summit so that they can repeat the success of holding the G-20 in Indonesia some time ago.

National Police Chief Gen. Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo instructed all of his staff to secure and guard the national to international agenda. Related to the international agenda, security readiness for the 2023 ASEAN Summit must be carried out early to maintain the good name of the nation and repeat the success of the G-20 some time ago.

“Then also in the ASEAN Summit series, the National Police had experienced a success story when securing the G-20 Summit. For the ASEAN Summit, we have prepared as well as possible, so that our nation’s name remains fragrant in the eyes of the international community,” he said.

In order to help secure the ASEAN Summit, the East Nusa Tenggara Police Chief, Inspector General of Police Johanis Asadoma stated that a new ship would be used to help maintain water security during the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo.

“For the ASEAN Summit we will also shift this new ship so that it can be seconded, in order to maintain water security during the meeting of the heads of state,” said the Regional Police Chief.

According to Johanis, during the 2023 ASEAN Summit, the National Police only played the role of BKO (Under Operational Control). This is because the task of securing the head of state is the authority of the TNI and Paspamres.

However, the National Police will not remain silent and will continue to provide as much assistance as possible. With the deployment of a new patrol boat unit in NTT waters, it is hoped that it will be able to assist in security there.

“If you say it’s enough or not, it’s not enough, but with the existing ships it can certainly help secure waters in NTT,” he said.

Previously, there were the arrival of two C1 type patrol boats which had just been inaugurated and were undergoing sailing trials in Kupang waters.

Meanwhile, the Director of Polairud Polda NTT, Kombes Pol. Nyoman Budiarja stated that the two ships obtained would be placed in Labuan Bajo to permanently secure the area.

There is one more ship that will be stationed on Rote Ndao Island which borders Australia, which also protects the territorial waters so that various criminal cases can be avoided.

On another occasion, the Military Commander IX/Udayana, Maj. Gen. TNI Sonny Aprianto invited all members of the Security Task Force to maximize regional security at the ASEAN Summit. They even apply the best SOP because the success of the ASEAN Summit 2023 is a reflection of Indonesia in the eyes of the world.

“The security and evacuation that we will carry out later must be the best and in accordance with the applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Because the success of securing the 42nd Asean Summit is an obligation of the regional task force, as well as a mirror of the Indonesian nation in the eyes of the world,” said the Military Commander.
