JAKARTA – The Civil Society Coalition has agreed that neutrality is the main indicator in the 2024 elections which will determine the quality of Indonesia’s democracy and leadership. This was conveyed in a discussion entitled “The Quality of Indonesia’s Democracy and Leadership Will Be Tested Through the Neutrality of the 2024 Election”.
The public is asked to play an active role in overseeing every process of holding the 2024 elections because one vote is very meaningful in determining the direction of the nation.
“Concerns over sound control are inevitable. “The community must take an active role in ensuring the smooth running of the elections,” said National Team Co Captain Anies – Muhaimin, Al Muzammil Yusuf.
Neutrality is not only a slogan to sweeten democratic momentum. Various political dynamics that have occurred recently indicate the neutrality of luxury goods in Indonesia’s democratic climate.
“Neutrality should not just be a slogan. The question is, why is this election so loud about neutrality? It started when serious violations occurred at the Constitutional Court (MK). I was reported with a sentence of more than 5 years so that I could be arrested at any time as a suspect. Would that be a form of intimidation?” Speaking from TPN Ganjar – Mahfud, Aiman Witjaksono
Furthermore, ASN and government administrators are also in the spotlight in the theme of neutrality because they are worried that certain groups will exploit them for electoral interests.
“ASN must be objective, neutral and fair. “Officials and ASN in the regions must have fear in order to maintain election neutrality.” JPPR Monitor, Zaki emphasized.
There is a serious problem in the issue of election socialization where election organizers cover up election participants under the pretext of confidentiality of election participants, which becomes a serious ethical problem for the public. Throughout this period, election outreach was intimidating, making it difficult to walk the corridors of democracy. This has also become the focus of civil society activists.
“The practice of money politics and intimidation as well as the lack of transparency of election organizers increases suspicions about the credibility of election administration. If this is not corrected immediately, it will damage the national order.” Said Formappi researcher, Lucius Karus
Meanwhile, the Honorary Council of Election Organizers asked all parties to maintain democratic development and play an active role in making the 2024 Election a success.
