Efforts to Eradicate Radicalism and Terrorism, Security Forces Successfully Arrest 7 Terrorists in Central Sulawesi
The security forces of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) continue to strive to eradicate the spread of radicalism and terrorism in the country. These efforts were actualized, one of which was the success of the authorities in arresting 7 (seven) terrorist suspects in Central Sulawesi Province (Central Sulawesi).
The arrest of 7 terrorist suspects in Central Sulawesi is clearly an indicator that the security forces have never been tired and have never given up in eradicating radicalism and terrorism so that they do not spread further in Indonesia.
The reason is, if left alone, extremist ideology or radicalism clearly has the potential to lead to acts of terrorism so that it will only bring a lot of chaos and instability in society and in the state structure.
It is known that the Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terror of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) succeeded in arresting a total of 7 (seven) suspects in terrorist cases in Central Sulawesi.
Regarding this matter, the Spokesperson for Densus 88 Anti-terror Police, Police Commissioner (Kombes Pol) Aswin Siregar said that the seven perpetrators were suspected of being involved in the Jemaah Islamiyah or JI group.
After making the arrests, security forces are currently continuing to carry out intensive investigations of the perpetrators and are currently developing cases in the field.
Meanwhile, Academician and Chancellor of the State Islamic University (UIN) Datokrama Palu, Prof. Lukman S Thahir said that the existence of terrorism in Central Sulawesi Province (Sulteng) remains a serious problem that needs to be addressed as soon as possible until it is resolved.
Therefore, it is important to have an active role and participation of all components to continue to see that the existence of radicalism and terrorism in the country is a very serious problem.
It could be that terrorism in Central Sulawesi is like an iceberg phenomenon, where quite a few people think that with the arrest of terrorist suspects the problem has been resolved, but in fact there are still many factors behind the emergence of new terrorists, so it must be can be anticipated well too.
It does not rule out the possibility that ordinary people will see that the situation is calm, all the problems have been resolved, but in fact the factors that are the background to why a person or group can become a member of terrorism are the big challenges.
Moreover, it is clear that the impact of the movements carried out by these terrorist groups is able to have quite significant impacts on society, especially those in Central Sulawesi Province.
For this reason, dealing with the problem of radicalism and terrorism down to its roots is something important and should continue to be seen as a serious threat because often the teachings of terrorism propagandists to spread their understanding and teachings play on the level of feelings of injustice.
Usually those who spread radicalism and terrorism will play on feelings of disappointment with public services, so they deliberately ride on that feeling of disappointment to become a trigger and then gain influence.
On the other hand, the efforts of the security forces and the success of Densus 88 Anti-terror Police in arresting seven terrorism suspects in Central Sulawesi deserve very high appreciation.
In the future, society and all other institutions also need to increase their active role and also take part in handling terrorism in Indonesia with their respective roles and functions.
One concrete example, namely from the education sector, is that it is very important for educational institutions to be able to work together with the security forces and the National Terrorism Handling Agency (BNPT) to handle the concept of terrorism in an educational setting, namely providing education as early as possible to students. their students.
Of course, it cannot be denied that cooperation between various sectors is one of the important keys to success in eradicating radicalism and terrorism in Indonesia.
It is clear that intervention from many parties is urgently needed to prevent the development of radicalism and terrorism in the country. Because this nation itself is a country that has very high diversity, an attitude of intolerance can give birth to radical ideas that can lead to acts of terrorism.
Intolerance itself should not happen and should not be left alone if there are signs that someone or a group is implementing it. By breaking the chain of radicalism as early as possible, it will also lead to overcoming terrorism.
Efforts to continue to eradicate radicalism and terrorism so that they do not spread further in Indonesia are very important things to be carried out together with all parties. Then for the security sector, the security forces themselves have been very optimal in all their steps in arresting terrorist perpetrators.
