Jakarta – The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Health, has demonstrated remarkable success in building an equitable and high-quality healthcare system. The Free Health Check Program (CKG), now being implemented on a massive scale nationwide, stands as concrete evidence of the government’s effective promotive and preventive health strategies aimed at improving public welfare.

Deputy Minister of Health, Prof. Dante Saksono Harbuwono, stated that as of April 10, 2025, a total of 1.8 million people had registered to participate in the program.

“Through these health checks, we can identify diseases that may not have surfaced yet. If any condition is detected, treatment can begin immediately,” said Prof. Dante.

He also emphasized that public participation is crucial to the success of national health initiatives and encouraged all citizens to take advantage of the program as a form of care for themselves and their families.

At the regional level, support from local governments has been strong and aligned with national policies. In Balikpapan, the City Health Office (DKK) quickly opened access to the service at all public health centers (puskesmas).

Head of Balikpapan Health Office, Alwiati, revealed that the program initially only applied to residents whose birthdays fell on the day of the check-up.

“This program is now fully open, not limited by birth date. We want all residents to be served,” Alwiati stated.

She noted that all puskesmas in Balikpapan have been prepared as the front line for implementing the program, and a variety of educational activities have been planned to raise public awareness. Citizens only need to bring their ID card to register and receive the service with ease.

Meanwhile, in Bangka Regency, public enthusiasm has been increasing thanks to outstanding efforts by the local government. According to data from the Bangka Health Office, 3,658 residents have registered, with approximately 3,394 people, or 92.78 percent, already receiving their health checks.

Acting Head of the Bangka Health Office, Nora Sukma Dewi, explained that this success reflects a growing collective awareness among residents of the importance of maintaining their health regularly.

“Active community involvement is vital to ensure the program has broader and more sustainable impact,” said Nora Sukma Dewi.

She added that the local government is fully committed to supporting the program using available resources to ensure equal healthcare access for all levels of society.

With its expanding reach and increasingly easy access, the Free Health Check Program has proven to be a powerful symbol of the government’s commitment to public well-being.
