Government Confirms Continuous Monitoring of Enggano Island Port Shallowing

BENGKULU The government has confirmed its commitment to continue monitoring the shallowing conditions of Enggano Island Port in order to overcome transportation and logistics obstacles for the community.

Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco Ahmad stated that his party will continue to monitor the implementation of Presidential Instruction Number 12 of 2025 regarding the acceleration of development on Enggano Island.

“We are still monitoring Pelindo, which is currently actively working to overcome the shallowing of the port,” said Dasco.

He added that various parties, such as Pelni and ASDP, have also worked together to transport local people using ships in the middle of the sea.

And also then the cooperation of Pelni and ASDP in transporting people to become ships that transport in the middle of the sea, he continued.

Dasco emphasized that the Indonesian House of Representatives has also formed a team to study what improvements the government has made to outermost islands such as Enggano.

In addition, the team that was formed is also conducting a study on how several other things need to be improved in the future, for the progress of the outermost island communities, he said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono explained that the KKP Orca 05 had successfully transported up to 28 Enggano residents to Bengkulu City.

“Alhamdulillah, we have received a report from the Captain of KP Orca 05 that the ship has arrived in Bengkulu City safely after traveling for approximately 12 hours from Enggano,” said Trenggono in his statement, Friday.

Furthermore, the Director General of PSDKP KKP Pung Nugroho Saksono (Ipunk) added that the total number of passengers consisted of 23 adults and 5 children.

Of the 28 passengers, 26 were Enggano residents and two were Muspika representatives as residents’ companions, said Ipunk.

He also explained that the passengers actually have urgent economic needs, such as buying basic necessities, taking care of their children’s school, and meeting their families.

Upon arrival at the waters of Baai Harbor, they were transported ashore using speed boats from KSOP, TNI AL, Basarnas, and DKP Bengkulu because KP Orca 05 was not yet able to dock due to shallowing.

Ipunk emphasized that KP Orca 05 will continue to be ready to assist in the transportation of Enggano residents until the port problem is resolved. (*)
