Presidential Instruction on Handling Enggano Island is Concrete Evidence of the Government’s Rapid Response

BENGKULU The government has again demonstrated a quick and concrete response in resolving strategic issues, such as through the issuance of Presidential Instruction Number 12 of 2025 for Enggano Island.
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that the birth of the Presidential Instruction was real evidence of President Prabowo Subianto’s responsive and collaborative leadership style.
“We completed Enggano Island together, yes, we can call this a new style of government now,” he said.
We try to be responsive and that is how it should be, in our opinion,” Prasetyo said on Wednesday.
Prasetyo also explained that problems in society often occur dynamically, so responsive and fast efforts are needed from the government.
He added that communication with the Indonesian House of Representatives has now become easier so that even major problems, such as the isolation of Enggano Island, can be resolved together.
“Communication with the Indonesian House of Representatives is running very smoothly, especially since several council leaders have previously served directly in the Enggano area, so they understand the urgency of handling it,” explained Prasetyo.
Moreover, Prasetyo added that several of the DPR RI leaders had previously served in the region.
So that it makes cross-sectoral communication between the government and council members smoother.
“I am with the DPR leaders because I also happened to have been assigned there,” he continued.
“Good communication allows for the resolution of various problems quickly and in a coordinated manner,” explained Prasetyo.
Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco Ahmad emphasized that his party will continue to monitor the implementation of the Presidential Instruction to ensure that the execution can run quickly and accurately.
“We are still monitoring Pelindo, which is currently actively working to overcome the shallowing of the port,” said Dasco.
He also said that cooperation with other parties such as Pelni and ASDP helped transport people from the middle of the sea.
“In addition, the team that was formed is also conducting a study on how several other things need to be improved in the future, for the progress of the outermost island communities,” he added.
Bengkulu Governor Helmi Hasan also formed a Coordination Team for Handling Certain Conditions on Enggano Island as a follow-up to the Presidential Instruction.
“We have involved all ministries listed in the Presidential Instruction in this team,” he said.
We want one language, one step, one goal: to save and build Enggano,” Helmi stressed. (*)
