In Closing, President Jokowi emphasized that ASEAN is still relevant

West Manggarai -The ASEAN Summit this time carries the theme ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth. Jokowi emphasized that through this theme, ASEAN is still relevant and can become the engine of world economic growth.

To support this relevance, the 42nd ASEAN Summit issued the ASEAN Leaders’ Statement on The Development of the ASEAN Community’s Post-2025 Vision.

In the statement, he stated agreement on continuing efforts towards the formulation of the ASEAN Post-2025 Vision which will become a regional guide and maintain ASEAN’s relevance in facing regional and global challenges.

“Increasing ASEAN’s collective efforts in narrowing the development gap within ASEAN and enhancing ASEAN’s sustainable development agenda to realize an inclusive, participatory and collaborative Community that is no longer divided by development gaps among its members,” wrote in the ASEAN Leaders’ Statement on The Development of The ASEAN Community’s Post-2025 Vision.

Global economic conditions that have not yet fully recovered, increasingly sharp rivalries and various challenges to increasingly unpredictable global dynamics are challenges that ASEAN must face.

For this reason, the President emphasized that ASEAN must be able to become the engine of world peace and growth. President Jokowi also emphasized that ASEAN must be ready to face the increasingly complex challenges ahead.

“ASEAN must really be ready to face increasingly complex challenges,” he said.

President Joko Widodo expressed his belief that ASEAN is capable of facing various current global challenges. For this reason, he firmly invited the Heads of State/Heads of Government who were present to jointly strengthen the unity of the ASEAN countries.

Indonesian President Jokowi also invited the business world to collaborate to realize ASEAN as a growth center or epicentrum of growth.
