Papua – Inspiring Young Papua (PMI) has become a center of attention among Papuan youths because of its role in helping them cultivate an entrepreneurial spirit. Recently, a magnificent building has been completed located in Jayapura City, Named Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH). This building provides the necessary facilities and training for young Papuans to develop their ideas into successful businesses.

On the other hand, PMI has achieved success in harvesting 161 tons of corn on a land area of 7.5 hectares in Jayapura. PMI Jayapura Coordinator Daud Edison Yarisetouw said corn cultivation was one of the programs that PYCH was intensifying as an effort to improve the welfare of the community and increase Papua’s food security.

“One of the harvest locations is in the area of Kampung Kwadeware and Kampung Doyo Lama, Waibu District, Jayapura, Papua. The harvest was carried out on 7.5 hectares of land with a yield of around 16.1 tonnes. It is estimated that the next harvest will be in May 2023. The total land available in Waibu District is 83.64 hectares,” said Daud.

Daud said the company would buy the crops to be used as chicken feed. Chicken feed products will be packaged with the PYCH label. The corn buying company is a business owned by PMI members, which has empowered many communities.

“There are 105 people divided into seven groups in the management of corn. They will enjoy the results of the sale of the harvest, “explained Daud.

Inspiring Young Papua is a community assisted by the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) which is also developing the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) program.

As a center for innovation and creativity, PYCH has a mission to inspire and empower young Papuans to become entrepreneurs and job creators in the future. Here, young people can learn about business development, financial management, marketing, and information technology.

In its efforts to foster an entrepreneurial spirit, PYCH works closely with various industry partners and non-profit organizations. The training and business development programs organized by PYCH have helped many Papuan youths create jobs for themselves as well as make a positive contribution to the local economy.

With a growing entrepreneurial spirit among Papuan youths, it is hoped that the Papua Youth Creative Hub can become a catalyst for creative economic growth in Papua and help overcome the problem of unemployment in the area.
