Jakarta – A video circulating showing President Joko Widodo’s speech speaking in Mandarin has attracted public attention, many public opinions are influencing society in the current situation. Indonesian communicator Emrus Sihombing reminded the public to be careful and alert so as not to be easily influenced by hoax content circulating on social media.
“The public must increase vigilance because the circulation of hoax content is considered quite massive recently, especially approaching the momentum of the 2024 election.” Emrus said.
Apart from that, according to him, the video circulating is the result of artificial intelligence manipulation which was edited using Artificial Intelligence on the video of President Joko Widodo’s speech in 2015 at the Gala Dinner in the United States.
“One video of President Jokowi is originally in English, and the other video is in Mandarin orally without writing. Even though the video that is translated by the source should be delivered in the original language, namely English. “Even if it is a translation, it will be in text form,” said Emrus.
The video leads to negative public opinion and can influence public opinion because it does not contain language expert text, but clearly it is just a hoax video to trigger social conflict and debate ahead of the 2024 elections. “The video which narrates
that President Joko Widodo gave a speech using Mandarin is clearly a hoax to leading to negative opinions that President Joko Widodo is bringing China’s interests to Indonesia,” continued Emrus.
The importance of the education process for the public regarding the news circulating so that it does not become an easy target for fake news which can lead to other crimes and harm the Indonesian nation.
“The public must be very alert and increase their understanding of checking and checking information whose origin is unclear because it is very dangerous to national stability,” said Emrus.
In this case, Emrus also emphasized the need for firm action by the Ministry of Communication and Information as the authority to stop the spread of artificial intelligence manipulated videos. so that it does not have a greater impact on national stability.
“The Ministry of Communication and Information must massively explain the video of President Jokowi’s speech to the public space, which appears to be spoken in Mandarin. “In fact, ideally, a foreign language delivered orally should also be accompanied by written text or running text as well,” concluded Emrus.
