The political year has its own characteristics, so when taking a political position it will form a variety of situations. Therefore, the election is expected to become an ordinary ritual so that people are encouraged to remain calm and respond normally, especially if it threatens the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), Kiai Marsudi Syuhud, in a dialogue program on TVRI on Friday (24/2)

According to Kyai Marsudi, the first political goal is to compose plans for the next five years. The second is to unite, if the people of the nation have been united then they have to work together and reduce the noise. Therefore, the election is expected to run safely and comfortably.

“The essence of politics is how to unite, not to separate. In places of worship, there are different backgrounds, all of them can enter the mosque. Mosques or churches are expected to unite people of all backgrounds, not divide them. Don’t let going home from the mosque instead break the harmony together,” said Deputy Chairperson of the MUI.

Meanwhile, Kyai Marsudi Syuhud, especially regarding Megawati Soekarnoputri’s speech about women reciting recitations, asked the public to be tabayyun or seek clarity on a truth.

“If I look at it like this, the purpose of people speaking in a statement or the pronunciation that understands is the person who discloses it, so if there are people who respond to the statement, maybe there is something right, maybe there is something wrong,” said Kyai Marsudi.

Kyai Marsudi explained that statements can be interpreted in various ways, so they can be true or false. Therefore, he invited the public to carry out tabayyun so that they could clearly know what it meant.

“For people who respond is something that is approximate, their own interpretation. That interpretation can be right or wrong. Therefore there is a context for the name tabayyun, because it is impossible for Megawati’s mother to ban the recitation because she is a Muslim, he said.

Previously, the Deputy Minister of Religion (Wamenag), KH Zainut Tauhid Sa’adi, admitted that he had good prejudice about what was meant by Megawati Soekarnoputri’s speech.

“I have good prejudice about what was said by Ms. Megawati regarding her statement about women reciting the Koran,” said Kyai Zainut.

According to him, Megawati was not forbidding or displeased with the recitation activities, but preferably in managing the time to be more proportional. Thus, the main task as a mother is to care for, guide, and educate children to the fullest.

“What Megawati said should be seen as constructive criticism, and can be used as evaluation material,” said the Deputy Minister of Religion.
