Money politics itself is an attempt to influence the behavior of others by using certain rewards. There are also those who interpret this money politics as an act of buying and selling votes in the political process and also power. In fact, such actions may occur in a wide range, from village head elections to general elections ( Elections ) in a country.

Efforts to influence other people by using a number of material rewards can also be interpreted as buying and selling votes, which is carried out in the political process and power and includes the act of distributing money, whether privately owned or party to influence the votes of voters. voter.

Moreover, ahead of the 2024 general elections in Indonesia, according to a researcher from the Association for Elections and Democracy ( Perludem ) , Nurul Amalia Salabi , she detected that the practice of money politics could reoccur in the upcoming 2024 elections .

Not without reason , according to Nurul , this was based on the findings of data contained in the Financial Transaction Analysis and Reporting Center ( PPATK) regarding the discovery of illegal money of up to trillions of rupiah entering the country. With these data findings, he firmly admits that indeed the 2024 Election has the potential to re-occur the practice of money politics.

Regarding the data findings , Member of the Election Supervisory Board ( Bawaslu RI) Puadi said that it is very important to form community groups so they can be aware of how dangerous the practice of money politics is. Therefore , the Bawaslu formed an Anti -Money Politics Village which is expected to continue to strengthen the commitment of the people in it to be able to firmly reject the practice of money politics in the General Election .

Furthermore , Puadi stated that the existence of the Anti- Money Politics Village formed by Bawaslu was able to bring out the character of people who have high political awareness to be able to truly realize democracy in the country in a clean and dignified manner.

The RI Bawaslu member also reminded all Indonesian people that the practice of money politics is not only a big enemy for the implementation of good democracy, but also a big enemy for development in a country.

Meanwhile , the Dean of the Sharia Faculty of IAIN Jember , Prof. M. Noor Harisudin said that he would continue to work to deny the practice of money politics in the continuation of elections in Indonesia. He even encouraged the General Elections Commission (KPU) to provide as much education as possible to the public, by cooperating with students and other civil society in preventing this illegal practice.

In fact, not only strictly rejecting the practice of money politics , but Prof. Harisudin also admitted that it is very necessary to have prevention as early as possible, which can be done in various ways, one of which is through outreach , participatory supervision , surveillance patrols , law enforcement and other preventive measures.

On another occasion , the Director for Domestic Politics at the Directorate General of Politics and Public Administration ( Ditjen Pol & PUM) of the Ministry of Home Affairs , Syarmadani explained that the practice of money politics would undermine democracy, justice and also equal opportunities for someone to be able to run the country.

Even worse, according to him, even money politics has the potential to subvert democracy because it seems that politicians get provisions from investors and of course at high costs so that eventually the investors will ask for compensation.

Of course , the sustainability of the climate and democratic system that exists in Indonesia and has been established so far will be seriously disrupted if the practice of money politics continues , especially when there are elections in 2024. Therefore, all parties must be able to unite and firmly reject the existence of such practices for the sake of a much better sustainability of the democratic climate in Indonesia.
