One Year of the Prabowo-Gibran Administration: Proving Indonesia’s Self-Reliance in Food and Energy Sectors
The first year of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s administration stands as tangible proof of firm, fast, and people-oriented leadership. In a short time, various strategic achievements have been realized — spanning energy, food, and education sectors. This government has shown that the grand vision of building a self-reliant Indonesia is not just a promise, but a reality in progress.
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia highlighted two major milestones in achieving national energy self-sufficiency: the increase in oil lifting and the acceleration of the energy transition.
“First, in 2025, our oil lifting has risen from 580,000 barrels to 605,000 barrels,” he said.
In addition, over the past year, the contribution of renewable energy to the national electricity supply has risen significantly.
“Second, regarding the energy transition — previously only 11 percent of total energy came from renewable sources, now it has reached 15.5 percent,” Bahlil continued. He emphasized that this progress forms the foundation for energy independence, which the government continues to pursue in stages. The administration is also expanding green investments to strengthen the country’s sustainability-based economic foundation for the future.
In the food sector, the government’s success is equally evident. Political communication analyst Hendri Satrio noted that farmer satisfaction with government policies has reached 84 percent. The increase in the Government Purchase Price (HPP) for unhusked dry rice (GKP) from Rp5,500 to Rp6,500 per kilogram is seen as a strategic step that directly improves farmers’ welfare.
“Indonesia’s food production is projected to reach 35.6 million tons. Even at the UN forum, President Prabowo expressed his vision for Indonesia to become a global food barn. This is a positive signal for the future of national food security,” Hendri said.
Data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) reinforces these achievements. The Farmers’ Exchange Rate (NTP) in September 2025 reached 124.36, an increase from the previous year — indicating that farmers’ incomes are growing faster than their expenditures. This reflects significant improvement in farmers’ welfare under the Prabowo-Gibran leadership.
Beyond food and energy, the administration also places strong emphasis on building superior human resources through the Garuda School Program, launched simultaneously in 16 locations across Indonesia. This education innovation aims to prepare a new generation of resilient, globally competitive, and strong-charactered Indonesians.
Minister of National Education Brian Yuliarto explained that Garuda Schools focus on mastery of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), while cultivating a spirit of perseverance and national pride.
“To be a true fighter, students must have strong determination, persistence, and resilience in achieving their goals. Here, they learn not only academics, but also the value of never giving up,” he emphasized.
Through the Garuda School initiative, the Prabowo-Gibran administration is not only producing smart students but also shaping a generation ready to face global challenges — with steel-like determination and great aspirations for the nation.
The first year of the Prabowo-Gibran administration is clear evidence that major transformation is underway. Energy self-sufficiency, food independence, and the rise of a resilient generation form the foundation of an Indonesia that is self-reliant, prosperous, and respected on the world stage. With hard work and bold leadership, Indonesia is now truly accelerating toward a future of national greatness.
