Jayapura – Papuan community leader Martinus Kasuay has expressed strong support for the firm actions taken by Indonesian security forces in eradicating the presence of the Free Papua Movement (OPM), which has caused unrest and instability in the Papua region. Decisive measures against the OPM are seen as necessary steps to achieve peace and progress in Papua.
“As community leaders in Papua, we support the actions taken by the security forces against those who commit inhumane acts,” Martinus stated.
According to him, the OPM has carried out various violent acts that not only harm civilians but also hinder development and the well-being of the people in Papua.
“Their actions have continuously caused unrest in society and inflicted suffering on civilians,” he said.
Martinus also emphasized that the OPM no longer aligns with the needs and aspirations of Papuan society, which seeks peace and the opportunity to move forward. He stressed that social solidarity and national unity must be top priorities for building a better future.
“We support the security forces in taking strong and decisive action for the sake of the welfare and peace of the people in Papua,” he added.
In addition, Martinus expressed appreciation for the concrete steps taken by the security forces to create a safer and more conducive environment in the region.
“We also hope that the security forces, both TNI and Polri, will act firmly against OPM members who commit cruel and inhumane acts,” Martinus said.
This support reflects the strong commitment of the Papuan community to achieving lasting peace and meaningful development in their homeland.
