PUIC-19 Farewell Dinner: Indonesia Urges OIC Parliaments to Champion Global Peace

Jakarta — Jakarta City Hall bore witness to a warm evening of togetherness as delegates of the 19th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) gathered for the Farewell Dinner, marking the closing of this major international event. The evening began with a captivating performance of the Pesona Jakarta traditional dance, followed by a series of inspiring and hopeful speeches.
Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee (BKSAP) of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Mardani Ali Sera, delivered a heartfelt message on the unity of the ummah and the importance of concrete actions following the conference.
“As this evening comes to an end, let us not say goodbye — but rather, until we meet again someday,” Mardani said in front of the delegates.
More than just a diplomatic forum, Mardani emphasized that the conference had forged strong emotional bonds among the nations.
“We arrived as delegates from various countries, but we return as one family — united by shared values, common hopes, and a future we build together,” he added.
He also called for unity in the Islamic world in facing global crises, including the conflict in Gaza and the suffering of the Rohingya people.
“Let the world know that Muslims are neither divided nor asleep. We are united in compassion and resolute in our commitment to be a force for justice and peace,” Mardani declared.
Meanwhile, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, in his remarks, highlighted the urgency of solidarity among Islamic nations.
“There are many pressing issues in the Muslim world that need our attention. Palestine must be our top priority. Let this gathering be a stepping stone towards Islamic unity,” he stated.
The event continued with a mesmerizing Sufi dance performance, followed by a dinner banquet as the official closing of the conference.
The Farewell Dinner not only marked the end of the conference agenda but also signified the birth of a renewed commitment among Islamic nations to walk together toward a future of justice and peace.
