The new national capital (IKN) named ‘Nusantara’ will have a smart city concept. This concept shows the government’s seriousness in realizing progress throughout Indonesia. It is hoped that with this concept the capital city will be able to become a place for a new government, which can best serve the people. The smart city concept will make the bureaucracy faster because it is connected online and makes everything more efficient.
The IKN will be moved from DKI Jakarta to North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan. The relocation was carried out because Jakarta was already overcrowded, so they had to be moved to East Kalimantan. Later the place will be renamed ‘Nusantara’.
The government will not only move the capital city, but will change the concept to be more modern. President Jokowi stated that IKN Nusantara would have a smart city concept . According to him, moving the capital city is not only physical, alias moving government buildings. However, there have been improvements in health care, bureaucracy, education, social governance, technology, etc.
In a sense, the smart city concept can embrace all the improvements that President Jokowi has mentioned. Especially in technology. When a smart city is built, it uses technology to improve performance. For example, for the management of important papers, try to be paperless , alias without filling in lots of paper forms, instead filling out Google forms instead.
With bureaucratic services using sophisticated technology like this, there will be many benefits. First, with an online form, the process will be much faster so that important letters will be completed very quickly, even in just a matter of days (depending on the queue). The people are happy because the letter is ready quickly and can be used to apply for a yellow card, for example.
With bureaucratic efficiency, service to the community will be faster. As a result, confidence in the government will increase. Then, people will be more diligent in dealing with important papers, such as KTP, KK, etc. They will take care of business legality and important documents because they are happy that the bureaucracy is no longer a headache and requires long queues.
Fast service is supported by neat online archives and filings. The online system also minimizes tucked and lost forms so it doesn’t harm people who need these important documents quickly. Important papers can be done faster and people are happy because they don’t have to wait for dozens of months.
Speed is indeed a characteristic of the current government because it is an instruction from President Jokowi who wants to work quickly but accurately. Therefore, IKN was made with the concept of a smart city so that it is more sophisticated and the government can quickly serve the people.
Second, the IKN smart city concept will greatly save the budget for buying paper. If you save paper, it will automatically be environmentally friendly because paper is made from trees, so fewer trees are cut down. Indeed, with the online form there is an internet fee but of course it only consumes a small quota.
The online system will remove the possibility of corruption by bad actors. It is common knowledge that there are unscrupulous employees who abuse their position and then ask for facilitation payments when people want to take care of important papers to government offices. However, if the form is online, the flow is fast and you don’t have to go to many employee desks, so people don’t get caught in extortion.
IT observer, Awang Muhammad Luthfi gave a positive response to the smart city and green city program projected by the government at IKN Nusantara. According to him, with the smart city concept , Indonesia will develop more in the digital field. Therefore, all people in Kalimantan fully support the development of IKN.
The concept of a smart city is also technologically advanced, for example an employee attendance system that no longer uses manual checks but automatically. With this checklock model, it will be recorded what time ASN enter and leave the office, so that they are more disciplined because they don’t want to be seen as late and embarrass themselves. This will crush the habit of unscrupulous ASN personnel who only check their heads and then run away to a coffee shop.

People really have to keep up with the times and make the best use of technology, therefore supporting the IKN green city concept.
