JAKARTA – The wave of public participation in overseeing the Pilkada Re-voting (PSU) process in various regions in Indonesia continues to show a positive trend. Amid the political dynamics that are occurring, the community together with various organizations and election organizing institutions are committed to ensuring that the PSU implementation is safe, peaceful, and democratic.
In Banjarbaru City, South Kalimantan, the youth wing of the Gerindra Party, Tunas Indonesia Raya (TIDAR) Banjarbaru, called for the importance of maintaining social stability during the ongoing PSU dispute process at the Constitutional Court. Secretary of TIDAR Banjarbaru, Sandi Hidayat, emphasized the importance of the public being wise about the information circulating.
“The public must be able to sort out news or information that is true and not provocative. Do not be influenced by hoax news that can damage harmony in Banjarbaru,” said Sandi.
Similar support also came from the representative of TIDAR South Kalimantan, Idham Cholis, who considered that the situation in Banjarbaru was conducive but still required collective awareness in maintaining security. As a symbol of a commitment to peace, TIDAR distributed roses and “Kota Banjarbaru Cinta Damai” stickers to drivers in the Tugu Adipura area.
Meanwhile, in Boven Digoel Regency, South Papua, the Regional General Election Commission (KPUD) invited all elements of society to oversee the PSU scheduled for August 6, 2025. Commissioner of the Legal and Supervision Division of the Boven Digoel KPUD, Johana Maria Ivone Anggawen, emphasized that public participation is needed at all stages of the election.
“Community participation is very important to optimize the quality of democratic implementation and minimize possible violations,” said Ivone.
He also reminded the public not to be tempted by the practice of money politics that damages the integrity of the election. “Money politics damages the essence of democracy and creates injustice. We urge the public to reject all forms of rewards in voting,” he said.
Meanwhile in North Gorontalo, the General Election Commission (KPU) emphasized its commitment to professionalism in dealing with Pilkada disputes. In the hearing at the Constitutional Court, the Respondent represented by La Radi Eno denied the applicant’s allegations that there was negligence in verifying candidates.
“The principles of honesty and professionalism must be upheld together, both by organizers and participants. The goal is for the Pilkada to produce honest and integrity leaders,” he stressed.
These initiatives indicate that the collective awareness of society to maintain the quality of democracy is getting stronger. With active involvement and public supervision, the PSU is expected to run smoothly, transparently, and can be trusted by all parties.
