The TNI, the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) and the National Police continue to work together in terms of securing the holding of the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo. TNI, BIN and Polri have committed to secure the ASEAN Summit event, they were deployed to secure the ASEAN Summit series of events. The hope is that in the continuation of the event, it is able to minimize the possibility of criminal activity such as kidnapping or terror.

Pangdam IX/Udayana Major General TNI Sonny Aprianto, SE, MM said that the personnel who are members of the Security Task Force (Pam) maximize regional security given to VVIP officials and delegates attending the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo.

Collaboration by the TNI, Polri and BIN previously also succeeded in securing various international standard events such as the IPU and the G20 Summit in Bali. Therefore, it cannot be denied that the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, NTT, took place safely and smoothly, thus giving a positive impression to the guest delegates.

According to the Military Commander, the security and evacuation floor that will be carried out is the best and in accordance with the applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), because the success of securing the 42nd Asean Summit is an obligation of a regional task force, as well as a mirror of the Indonesian nation in the eyes of the world.

Security at the 2023 ASEAN Summit is indeed guided by the success of securing the G20 Summit in Bali in November 2022. As stated by the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, the preparations and all the safeguards being carried out at this time in order to welcome the 2023 ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, are guided by the G20 security success story.

Previously, the National Police Chief had also conveyed a message to his staff that there were several national and international agendas that required extra security so that things could run safely, smoothly and under control, none other than to make the name of the Indonesian nation proud in the eyes of the international community.

Meanwhile, the NTT Regional Police Chief Inspector General of Police Johnny Asadoma said that to secure the waters, the National Police Headquarters provided two units of type C1 patrol boats, named KP Pulo Pomana and KP Pulo Padar, to the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police (Polda). to support and improve services to the community.

The ship will also be stationed in Labuan Bajo for the Security of the ASEAN Summit, helping the TNI to secure heads of state who are present in Labuan Bajo.

Security for the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo was carried out by the TNI and Polri in collaboration with the State Intelligence Agency (BIN).

The State Intelligence Agency (BIN) also ensures the security of the areas which are the main venues and their surroundings for the ASEAN Summit. Apart from that, BIN also anticipates a number of terror threats and other disturbances, so that the ASEAN Summit can run safely and smoothly.

The ASEAN Summit international event or the ASEAN Summit (KTT) is the focus of the Bhayangkara corps. This was stated by the Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Kapolri) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

Indeed, the experience of the G20 KKT can be a reference for security patterns and aspects, but the security personnel must not be complacent. The level of vigilance must be high because this international scale event directly risks the quality of Indonesia in the eyes of the world.

All ranks, both from BIN, TNI and Polri, ensure that they remain alert in all aspects from preparation to implementation so that it can run smoothly without obstacles.

The ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) Summit was held in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on 9-11 May 2023. Then in September in Jakarta. Indonesia has been appointed as the host several times, namely in 1976, 1996, 2003 and 2011.

The ASEAN Summit is a summit meeting between the leaders of ASEAN member countries in relation to economic and cultural development among Southeast Asian countries. Since the formation of ASEAN there have been 41 official summits, 4 unofficial summits and 1 extraordinary summit.

The ASEAN Summit will discuss relations between ASEAN member countries and ASEAN with other countries, especially in the economic field. This is very good because ASEAN is seen as a potential region and although on average it is still a developing country, its economy is good and not affected by the effects of the global recession.

The ASEAN 2023 theme contains two major elements. The first element, ASEAN Matters. With its chairmanship, Indonesia will ensure that ASEAN continues to show its relevance in Southeast Asia and the world. Meanwhile, Epicentrum of Growth means that ASEAN’s position as the center of economic growth in the region can continue to grow higher than other countries outside ASEAN.

The implementation of the ASEAN Summit is very important, because it brings the interests of many parties, not only for the Indonesian people but also for the people of ASEAN and internationally. The ASEAN Summit is also a momentum to show Indonesia’s economic resilience which is able to face many global challenges.

Therefore, it is hoped that the Synergy of the TNI, State Intelligence Agency (BIN) and Polri will continue to be established in securing the holding of the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, so that this event can be held successfully. []
