TNI, BIN and Polri Optimal Secure the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo

West Manggarai – TNI, BIN, and Polri continue to make optimal efforts to secure the series of events for the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, NTT.

The TNI has stated that the security for VVIP guests at the 2023 ASEAN Summit will be the same as at the G20 Summit in Bali in 2022. The TNI is ready to protect the security of the delegation guests who will attend the 2023 ASEAN Summit in May in Labuan Bajo and September in Jakarta.

Pangdam IX/Udayana Major General TNI Sonny Aprianto, SE, MM, as Pangkogaspamwil VVIP, said that all personnel who are members of the Security Task Force to maximize regional security provided to VVIP officials and all delegates present at the 42nd ASEAN Summit 2023 in Labuan Bajo.

This was said by the Military Commander, virtually, at the VVIP Security coordination meeting at the 42nd ASEAN Summit.

“It is hoped that all Officials who have been appointed and are involved in securing the activities of the 42nd ASEAN Summit, to immediately carry out preparations and checks on equipment and personnel, as well as the location of activities, so that later there will not be even the slightest mistake,” said the Military Commander.

The Military Commander also said that Kodam IX/Udayana had experience in securing the G20 which had been successfully held in Bali Province in November 2022, so he hoped that at the ASEAN Summit event everything would go well.

“The security and evacuation that we will carry out later must be the best and in accordance with the applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), because the success of securing the 42nd ASEAN Summit Summit is an obligation of a regional task force, as well as a mirror of the Indonesian nation in the eyes of the world,” said Military Commander

Meanwhile, the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) also ensures the security of the areas which are the main venues and their surroundings for the ASEAN Summit. Apart from that, BIN also anticipates a number of terror threats and other disturbances, so that the ASEAN Summit can run safely and smoothly.

On a different occasion, the Head of Police Public Relations Division, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, also said that securing the 2023 ASEAN Summit would guide the success of securing the G20 Summit in Bali.

“It was prepared based on the G20 security success story,” he told the media.

Previously, the National Police Chief had conveyed a mandate to his staff that there were several national and international agendas that required extra security so that they could run safely, smoothly and under control.

This shows that security for the ASEAN Summit is really well prepared, the TNI, BIN and Polri continue to work together and show their commitment to maintaining security from various sectors during the ASEAN Summit.
