The development in remote area is blocked by forest status: Government will change the forest status in Kotawaringin Timur

CIDISS – One reasons of slow development because many lands are still forest status. Government of Kotawaringin Timur, Central Kalimantan makes budget IDR 1 billion for change the production forest status. the budget has arranged on regional budget (APBD). Moreover, the budget has allocated, then the development will implement soon.

The area of production forest will be used as some priority program for acceleration development, such transmigration, people resident, road and village. In fact, many houses in Kotawaringin Timur which located in forest area.

The government’s reason, if there is no change status of forest, then Kotawaringin Timur will not be development because it is blocked by forest status.

Head of Commission II DPRD (Regional House Representative) Kotawaringin Timur, Abdul Kadir, such quote in Antaranews Kalteng.com, Kadir gives examples on development program by making road access from Tumbang Penyahuan village, Bukit Santuai district to kilometer 4 Kuala Kuayan village, Mentaya Hulu district, is blocked by forest status. By its case, government needs to change the forest status.

The development program is planned by through TNI (Indonesian Army) Karya Bakti program, but was cancelled because the forest status. The program is on purpose open access for remote area.

As in plan, TNI will open access to remote area by making road and bridges which amount of area around 3.3 hectares on forest production area.
