The attitude of the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, who did not want to come to meet the KPK’s call made many parties angry, including students. They urged the Papuan governor to be manly and obey the ongoing legal process. According to the rules, Lukas must come and appear before the KPK investigators in Jakarta, not hide in Papua.

When Lukas Enembe was named a suspect in a corruption and gratification case, spontaneously many people criticized him. The reason is, in the past he had a good image as an outstanding official, and succeeded in making Papua the host of the XX PON. However, he turned out to be scheming behind the people’s trust and corruption worth hundreds of billions of rupiah.

The students urged Lukas Enembe to obey the legal process, because so far he has been absent from the KPK twice. Papuan students studying in Jakarta, who joined the Student Forum for the Development of the Land of Papua, held an action to urge Lukas to obey the law. They went to the office of the Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Human Rights, Mahfud MD.

Charles Kossay, the coordinator of the action, stated that Papuan students supported the KPK in investigating the case of Lukas Enembe. They also support the National Police to arrest and take firm action against those who deliberately obstruct the law enforcement process against suspect Lukas Enembe.

All parties in Papua must exercise restraint so that Luke’s legal process is in accordance with the corridors of Indonesian law. Papua must remain peaceful and there should be no horizontal conflict. However, for several weeks, the community became riotous and guarded around Lukas Enembe’s house in the Jayapura area. They were on standby for a radius of 200 meters and did not want Lukas to be picked up by the KPK and the authorities.

When the Governor of Papua becomes a suspect, there should be no residents who defend him and even contradict the people who support the KPK. Conflicts must be minimized so that bad events do not occur in the future. Papuans guarding around Luke’s house also need to be warned, because they are on standby and display traditional weapons as a symbol of resistance.

As the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe should understand that horizontal conflicts in Papua can lead to dire consequences. The reason is because it can trigger another problem, namely war between tribes, because there are those who defend him, and some want him to be arrested immediately. When the war starts again, arrows fly and can take many lives, and this bad situation must of course be prevented, because there has been no war between tribes in Papua for decades.

Therefore, Lukas Enembe should think about this worst possibility and eliminate conflicts between the Papuan people, and comply with the ongoing legal process. If he avoids corruption, why is he afraid to fly to Jakarta? In fact, his actions of hiding and reasoning that he had a stroke, even added to the public’s suspicion that he was really corrupt.

Meanwhile, the Deputy for Home Affairs Coordinator, Maj. Gen. TNI Djaka Budhi Utama, stated that the students who gave their aspirations were in line with the government’s seriousness in law enforcement and eradicating corruption.

In a sense, students who are also Papuans feel ashamed because the governor committed a criminal act of corruption. They don’t want the name Bumi Cendrawasih to be tarnished because of the governor’s actions. So far, Papua has been known as a tourist area, and don’t let its image turn bad as a place for corruptors.

The government is very serious about eradicating corruption and will handle the case of Lukas Enembe properly. Even though he is a high-ranking official, it does not mean that he is given a whitewash or is immune from the law. Everyone is equal before the law, because Indonesia is a state of law, and Lukas must respect the KPK and want to be summoned to Jakarta.

In accordance with the regulations, when a suspect has been absent from the KPK summons twice, a forced pick-up can be carried out. Luke must be willing to be picked up and there must be no excuse for being sick or for other reasons. He should have dared to come to the KPK if he was innocent, not like a coward who hid behind the protection of the people who he managed to trick.

Moeldoko, Head of the Presidential Staff Office, also agrees with the students and wants Lukas Enembe to obey the law. He even threatened to deploy troops if Lukas still ran away from his responsibilities and did not want to be summoned to Jakarta. The legal process must be carried out quickly and should not be protracted.

Many parties have urged Luke Enembe to obey the law and obey the rules. He should have come to the KPK building to be examined by investigators. His wife and children are also obliged to come because of their status as witnesses in this corruption case.

When the students were angry with the behavior of Lukas Enembe, who ran away from responsibility, they held a protest action and supported the KPK to install their governor. Lukas has embarrassed Papuans with his bad behavior. He should have acted manly by daring to come to the KPK building.
