The transformation of government administration under the leadership of Jokowi brings a positive change for the improvement of Indonesia’s development. Surely it leaves homework for the government, to improve the mindset and standard of living of the community to be able to follow the pace of economic growth in Indonesia. It is not impossible that the people of Indonesia will stand parallel to the superpowers. Goal is certainly still require a very long step, because the current government has set a target to boost infrastructure development in Indonesia first. The next step remains how the the next Indonesian leader succeeded to develop the positive achievements of the Jokowi regime government.
The development of the standard of living and the rapid development of infrastructure carried out by the government also has other impacts for the central government. The rapid change of the economic constellation forced the government to admirate the planned transfer of the Indonesian government center, the condition of Jakarta has become increasingly crowded and not qualified to become the center of government. Density per capita population that is not ideal plus the increasing inequality and social gap becomes the main problem that which complicates the condition of Jakarta.
The government’s discourse for the transfer of the center of government is likely to have come to light, but it all depends on the results of the feasibility study and the government’s decision to apply. In addition, it is the DPR’s consideration and approval that ultimately is needed to legitimize the plan.
President of the Republic of Indonesia, in a statement through social media twitter said the current discourse of the transfer of capital is still in the study phase. It needs a mature calculation so that the policy is really beneficial for the nation and especially for the people.
Previously the Minister of National Development Planning (BNP) / Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Bambang Brodjonegoro, said that although the capital is being moved, Jakarta will remain a center of economy and business. Later Indonesia will resemble the United States that separates the central government area in Wahington DC with the economy and business centers in New York.
The transfer of the capital aims to improve the economic gap in Java and outside Java. This transfer is expected to create a new growth center. After the government completes the study, preparations for the transfer of the capital will begin in 2018.
Apart from the growing issues, the government is still looking for a decent area to be the new capital of Jakarta.
