kpkCorruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy chief Adnan Pandu Praja said the Indonesian graft-busters had thus far salvaged a total of Rp294 trillion of state money from corruption—equal to the funds allocated in the 2015 revised state budget (APBN-P) for the public works sector.

“We have launched a series of integrated, maximum preventive measures against corruption and prevented state losses amounting to Rp294 trillion. This will affect the people positively,” he said in Ambon on Thursday.

Adnan is in Ambon to attend meetings of Monitoring and Evaluation of Indonesian Natural Resources Salvation Drive in the forestry, plantation and mining sectors that will be held in three provinces: Maluku, Papua and West Papua.

Adnan said the figure could be higher should expenditures from these sectors could be optimized.

“But the fact is state revenues from taxes on mineral and coal mining permits (IUP) are low,” he said.

He said according to the data from the Tax Directorate General in 2014 the number of IUPs issued reached 10,922 with 7,834 IUP holders. Of the total IUP holders, only 5,984 of them had tax identification numbers (NPWP), he added.

He continued that of the 5,984 taxpayers, only 3,276 had reported their tax forms (SPT), but of the figure only 2,304 had really paid their taxes.
