Implementing Agency of Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry Extension (BP4K) of south Konawe in Southeast Sulawesi (Sulawesi) recognizes that agricultural extension workers in the area are still fairly minimal. More than 400 village extension workers provided then 240 people. If referring to 2006 of Law’s No. 16 on Education System which requires one extension to a village, Konsel still need about 200 FEA (tenaga penyuluh) again.
BP4K head Konsel Agusalim say, rather than thinking about the lack of agricultural extension workers in Konsel, he would prefer to improve the quality of existing extension. Therefore, the most important of the extension is the ability to assist farmers and should have a wide range of knowledge of the latest technological developments in agriculture.
One of the steps taken to improve the quality BP4K Konsel extension is routinely conducted training sessions to the extension itself. According Agusalim, qualified ability in assisting farmers all absolutely owned by extension. Otherwise, the extension will be lazy assist farmers because they have to deal with a problem that he could not finish. However Related rice production in Konsel, although production is not too high but according to Agus has been able to meet the needs of the population Konsel own rice.
