The development of the National Capital City (IKN) of the Archipelago is the government’s effort to promote inclusive economic development, by disseminating the magnet for new economic growth, so that it does not only rely on the island of Java.

IKN Nusantara is also a form of mainstreaming Indonesia-centric development, green economy, green energy, smart transportation, and efficient and effective governance as milestones for the great transformation of the Indonesian nation.

Research Director of the Center of Reform on Economics (CORE) Indonesia Piter Abdullah highlighted that Indonesia needs new economic growth centers so that they are not Jakarta centric or Java centric.

“The transfer of IKN to Kalimantan answers all of that. With the existence of IKN in Kalimantan, there will be an acceleration of development outside Java. The development of IKN in East Kalimantan complements all infrastructure development efforts more evenly that have been carried out during the period of President Jokowi’s administration.” said Peter Abdullah.

Piter added that the relocation of IKN will create a new center of economic growth which in turn can optimize the utilization of national economic resources, especially those in Kalimantan.

“Just imagine, the existence of IKN which is inhabited by around 2 million people, will create a new market in the Kalimantan area, which will absorb so many economic resources. The surge in demand due to IKN will create added value for all economic potentials that have been neglected so far,” said Piter.

Piter also regretted the various parties who questioned and rejected the transfer of IKN, . “Questioning the transfer of IKN is a manifestation of our inconsistency in our demands and expectations for equitable development and economic prosperity,” added Piter.

Continuing the positive response from various communities to the transfer of IKN, the Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Pratikno said that the development of IKN is proof that Indonesia is centric in the future.

“IKN Nusantara is a milestone for Indonesia Forward 2045 which is supported by Indonesia-centric development that supports the creation of inclusive growth and builds a new locomotive for Indonesia’s transformation based on innovation and based on technology and green economy,” said Pratikno.

The policy of moving the capital city that has been decided by the government and the DPR in a long process has gone through careful discussion and planning, marked by a comprehensive policy review stage, in which the formal requirements in the discussion of the Act have followed the applicable laws and regulations, as well as involving all stakeholders. interests, academics, campus circles, local indigenous people to the sultanate in East Kalimantan and the absorption of aspirations from the community.
