DENPASAR – Lecturer of the Faculty of Law, Udayana University (Unud) Dr. I Dewa Gede Palguna, SH, M. Hum assessed that the Group of Twenty (G20) Summit was very important for Indonesia in international relations,

The reason is, firstly, it can introduce Indonesia as a big country rich in natural resources, but also rich in terms of understanding pluralism. “This is amazing, the ethnicity, the language, the culture, the cuisine and nature.”

So one of the effects is the promotion side. Although it is often said that the Indonesian Presidency at the G20 is nothing more than a coordinator for bringing together and so on, “But it is very important because after all, President Jokowi’s leadership in the G20 will be seen, whether it will be tested. Because this is a multipolar world, or difficult leadership, but this is what it is. opportunity to prove that President Jokowi can lead in a difficult situation.

Second, in the context of international relations related to international law, if the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Jokowi, is successful, he will position international relations in a very respectable position.

“Imagine in a state that is currently hostile to each other, still being able to organize activities, moreover later this will take place smoothly and safely. And so rich in agendas and discussions. Whatever the outcome will be, in a world of “peeking at each other” and a show of strength competition and so on “But we can do it peacefully. That would be awesome. From the leadership aspect, it will make Indonesia very significant in international relations.

Economically, it is not only seen in the short term, “if it is now only calculated from the occupancy of hotels and so on.” The former Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) said that the long-term impact must also be seen, if you look at the number of countries present, including heads of state who have confirmed their attendance, “later it will not only be present at official events, but will also report what happened to him during this conference. and what happened to the people in his country?”

The delegates and other state leaders, will talk about Indonesia, will tell about Bali, “This economic impact will be extraordinary in the future, although people say Bali is already known, but the question is in which segment of Bali’s popularity.”

Things like that should be underlined. The man who is also an arts activist said, the Balinese people should be grateful that the G20 event took place in Bali and also grateful that the President of the Republic of Indonesia is trusted as the president who will have a huge impact on Indonesia in the future in the context of international relations.

This is also Bali’s opportunity if it wants to shift from mass tourism to quality tourism. Now, there will also be a culture forum, where delegates are invited to visit villages and see the nature of Bali. “This in quotation marks is the promotion of Bali, here if Bali wants to shift to quality tourism, there must be a scenario so that the delegates know more about what Bali really is. So that it makes them come and come again to Bali as quality tourists.”

Asked about President Jokowi’s leadership style, Dewa Palguna answered that maybe this is the style that the world needs now, which is already deep and tired of confrontational leadership, with leadership that is conservative and trapped in divisions.

“It turns out that the awkward leadership style is accepted by other world leaders. We often just can’t accept it,” said the man born in Bangli, “This can be seen from the acceptance of leaders from other countries in the G20, even by countries that often pressure Jokowi did not invite Russia. There has never been a negative comment about Jokowi.”

According to Palguna, this is an achievement that is not easily achieved by anyone who becomes the G20 presidency, “I see from President Jokowi that there is no feeling of inferiority, he is calm. There is a kind of Bung Karno spirit in Jokowi. I am the President of a big country, you know. He does not bow down in front of a big country, which has been called a super power country.” Dewa Palguna can see from Jokowi’s body language that among other G20 leaders, there are words. “You developed countries should not be arrogant, because you need Indonesia and I am the President of the Republic of Indonesia.”
