Unbelievable, in Tambun Bungai city, Palangka Raya, there is area that people communicate using English on their daily. The area called Kampoeng Inggris (English village).
English Village is not difficult to find. It located on G.Obos 13 Street, Palangka Raya, Kalimantan Tengah. Area is a Kost. There are nine rooms. 15 people live in there. They communicate using English in their daily life.
The area is part of English course, called Kampoeng Inggris (English Village/EV) Standford’s Palangka Raya.
Manager of EV, Luqman Baehaki, S,S, M.Pd, told that EV was on Palangka Raya since on August 2014.
“EV was inspired by English Village on Pare, Kediri, East Java. But, we have different concept, that is regular program and Intensive staying Kos,” said him.
However, he said, EV offered new concept on the English course. It concern to use English in their daily life.
“Students who took course and stay here, they interact and communicate using English fully 24 hours,” said him.
For such, he suggest, we open to guest and tourist who want visit and talk using English to English Village Standford’s Palangka Raya.
Their activity starts learn English at 5.00 am in the morning. Then, they continue practice to speak English in EV area. Sometimes, they go to Rungan Sari (center of tourist in Palangka Raya) for practice their English direct to foreigner.
