Indonesia has entered a new chapter in its efforts to build the nation’s civilization through the realization of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) project. The government has shown a strong commitment to ensure that the construction of a number of buildings in the area continues according to plan. This step is not only a symbol of national transformation, but also real evidence that Indonesia is moving towards a more advanced, modern, and sustainable future.

The IKN development project in East Kalimantan has been designated as one of the national priority programs. Various buildings designed to fulfill government, social, and economic functions have begun to be built in this area. One of the main milestones is the construction of the State Palace which is designed with a modern architectural concept, but still reflects local values and sustainability.

The government ensures that all development processes are carried out with an integrated approach, involving various stakeholders from the central to regional levels. This step aims to ensure that development not only runs smoothly, but also has a positive impact on local communities and the environment.

One important aspect in the development of the IKN is the commitment to the principle of sustainability. The government has stipulated that the construction of buildings and infrastructure in this area must meet  green building standards . This means that each project must be designed to reduce environmental impact, utilize renewable energy, and support resource efficiency.

In addition, the IKN area is also designed to be a forest city  . Thus, the construction of buildings in this area will not sacrifice the existing ecosystem. In fact, development is expected to improve environmental quality by planting trees, preserving biodiversity, and creating large green spaces.

Minister of Investment and Downstream/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Rosan Perkasa Roeslani admitted that he continues to meet with potential investors to invest in the IKN. In the meeting, the government conveyed a number of incentives and benefits offered by the IKN. At the same time, policy makers will also continue to try to attract investors to invest capital in the IKN.

A number of investors have also realized their investments, marked by a number of infrastructure developments in the IKN. Shopping centers, hotels, restaurants, green industries, education, and health are evidence of the presence of investors in the development of the IKN.

The development of the IKN not only has an impact at the national level, but also provides direct benefits to the local community. One of the main benefits is the creation of new jobs. Thousands of local workers are involved in various building construction projects in the IKN area, from construction to the provision of supporting services.

In addition, the development of the IKN also opens up opportunities for local economic development. The government is committed to empowering small and medium enterprises (SMEs) around the IKN area. For example, through training and mentoring programs, local communities are encouraged to become part of the supply chain of development projects.

The development of the IKN certainly continues to steal the public’s attention with significant progress. One of the important milestones in this process is the government’s guarantee that the legislative building in the IKN will begin construction in early 2025. This step marks a new chapter in Indonesia’s journey towards a more efficient, modern, and sustainable government.

Technology plays an important role in supporting the development of the IKN. The government is utilizing advanced technology to improve the efficiency and quality of development. For example, the use of  Building Information Modeling  ( BIM ) allows project planning and implementation to be carried out more accurately and in an integrated manner.

In addition, digital technology is also used to monitor construction progress in real-time. This system allows stakeholders to get up-to-date information on project status, identify potential problems, and take corrective measures quickly.

The government is optimistic that the development of the IKN will have a long-term positive impact on Indonesia. The buildings built in this area are not only physical facilities, but also symbols of the nation’s progress and modernity. With strong support from all parties, the IKN is expected to become a new center of growth that encourages equitable development throughout Indonesia.

Head of the IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono said that the construction of the legislative and judicial buildings is targeted to be completed in two years, starting in early 2025. Meanwhile, Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, revealed that the auction process for facilities and infrastructure is currently under review by the Financial and Development Audit Agency (BPKP). It is hoped that all preparations will be completed in the first quarter of 2025.

Special Staff of the Head of the IKN Authority for Public Communication, Troy Pantouw also said that of the 109 development packages from the APBN contracted from 2020 to 2024, the development progress in the IKN has reached 61.7 percent. The development of the Core Government Center Area (KIPP) is going according to plan. With the executive infrastructure almost complete and planned to be functional in early 2025, to support the gradual transfer of state civil servants (ASN).

Therefore, the Government must ensure that every stage of the IKN development runs according to plan so that its benefits can be felt by all Indonesian people. The legislative building in the IKN is not only a symbol of progress, but also a reflection of the nation’s determination to grow better, inclusively, and sustainably.
