Choirul Fuadi, central Kalimantan, CIDISS – Haruei Bird (Polyplecton malacense schetermacheri Bruggemann) is endemic bird of Kalimantan. It has beautiful feather and amazing sound and loud, then the sound hears in far distance, moreover till 1 mil distance.
But now, Haruei bird is on scarce status. Whereas, feather of this bird is part of Dayak dance performing. Every single Dayak traditional dance, Haruei feathers use as accessory; it puts on Lawung (headband) of dancer.
According to Custom figure of Pulang Pisau regency, Central Kalimantan, Iber Jamal, like quote in Borneo News, Friday (12/6/2015), Haruei feather usual use in custom ceremony and traditional dance, and now, the feather is going scarce status.
Iber Jamal, Custom figure of Desa Pilang, Jabiren district, he has requested to government to give serious concern from government of Pulang Pisau regency, in order government take fast respond on conservation of Haruei bird, endemic of Kalimantan.
“It must be serious concern of all sides to get solution about scarce of the bird. If we monitor the Haruei Bird condition now, it almost never sees again, whereas the beautiful feather is not hesitant,” said Iber Jamal.
Along time ago, Iber told, ancestor of Dayak race always keeps Haruei bird population. The chosen of Dayak race to Haruei bird feather as accessory in every single ceremony is never mistakenly.
It was because this Bird has amazing sound and loud, then the sound hears in far distance, moreover till 1 mil distance. “It becomes symbol of soul and skill of bird, then inspire of Dayak people,” said him.
Then, Iber Jamal asked explicitly, he suggest to government and other side who care to art, starting to think about how to conservation of this bird.
“It must be think how to conservation of bird, in order not always catch the bird in forest,” said Him.
