JAKARTA – Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu) Number 2 of 2022 concerning Job Creation (Ciptaker) is able to strengthen Indonesia’s economic fundamentals to continue to maintain competitiveness amid high world economic uncertainty.
This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, Afriansyah Noor in a National Webinar with the theme “Perppu for Job Creation and Economic Resilience” organized by the Moya Institute, Friday (3/3).
The webinar was also attended by Professor of Business Law at Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Prof. Nindyo Pramono and Political Observer who is also a Postgraduate Lecturer at Pelita Harapan University, Dr. Emrus Sihombing.
The Wamenaker also corrected information circulating that the Perppu Ciptaker had reduced workers’ rest hours. He said that the issue was not true, because the rules depended on the company.
“Another central issue is severance pay, which seems to be abolished. This is absolutely not true because the Job Creation Perppu still regulates severance pay,” he added
Halsenada was also expressed by Professor of Business Law at Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Prof. Nindyo Pramono that the Job Creation Perppu was formed to anticipate various disruptions and global geopolitical changes.
“The world is currently facing a lot of disruptions, this is the long impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, including climate change and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. So to be able to deal with all of these conditions, the government issued a Job Creation Perppu,” he explained.
On the same occasion, Political Observer who is also a Postgraduate Lecturer at Pelita Harapan University, Dr. Emrus Sihombing believes that the existence of the Ciptaker Law is able to build optimism in employment.
“In accordance with the name of this law, namely Job Creation, so as to create jobs. So later the Indonesian people will no longer apply for work abroad, instead there will be many people who set up businesses,” he said.
Emrus is also optimistic that the Job Creation Perppu will have a significant impact on economic growth in the country going forward. Apart from that, the Ciptaker Law also makes it easier for MSME actors to be able to develop with a simple bureaucratic flow.
“There are many benefits from the issuance of the Job Creation Perppu, the main thing is that MSME actors really benefit because of the ease of licensing so that it really gives them hope and optimism,” said Emrus.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Moya Institute, Heri Sucipto said that the Perppu Ciptaker was considered important because it was one way out of the stalemate in legal and labor issues under President Jokowi’s leadership. Not only that, the Perppu Ciptaker is also a solution to advancing the economy.
“The government has issued Perppu Number 2 of 2022 concerning Job Creation to anticipate this condition. The responses varied,” concluded Hery.
