CIDISS – The geographic Conditions of Seruyan Regency is consisting of many rivers, making people using water transportation modes, such as a boat in transport and move from one place to another. In addition, people also use the River in daily activities such defecate, wash, shower, etc.
In fact then, it gives an effect to the water quality of the river. According to head of the Environmental Agency (BLH) Seruyan, Bahrun Abbas, suggested to all Seruyan Regency Society not to consume the Seruyan river water because the water quality is not worthy for consumption.
“From the Seruyan River water sample test showed the presence of pollution, so that citizens should never again consume Seruyan river water,” said Bahrun Abbas.
Based on the results of the laboratory test in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, Seruyan river water contains positive stool or feces of humans and other harmful bacteria. I.e., belonging to the category of light polluted.
So, if consumed can be hazardous to human health. Then the BLH parties advised the citizens to make wells water for daily needs. However, using water beside for consumption such as washing clothes is still not a problem.
He said, though still in the category of light polluted river water, but current Seruyan River can only be consumed through installation or water treatment technology which is owned by the company of drinking water.
He added, in the future, the BLH has planned to re-test Seruyan river water quality at a time when water is being rise, because the previous sampling conducted during the dry season.
