Preparations for the Inauguration of the Archipelago Student Dormitory in Surabaya are Going Smoothly
The government continues to make efforts to ensure the readiness for the inauguration of the Nusantara Student Dormitory (AMN) by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in Surabaya to run smoothly. Various preparations and field observations have been carried out at the Surabaya AMN Location which has been completed by the PUPR Ministry and inaugurated by President Jokowi, Tuesday (29/11).
The State Intelligence Agency (BIN) is the catalyst for the development of this AMN. Even from planning to construction and preparing for the inauguration. Not only that, BIN will also take part later in organizing coaching at AMN.
AMN Surabaya is a shared residence for students receiving educational scholarships from various regions studying in Surabaya and its surroundings. The development of AMN refers to Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 106 of 2021 as a forum for coaching to strengthen unity and integrity for the younger generation at the tertiary level by providing dormitories for students from various regions throughout Indonesia who excel who are currently studying in Surabaya and its surroundings.
Apart from Surabaya, AMN is also planned to be built in 5 cities/regencies, namely Jakarta, Bantul, Malang, Makassar and Minahasa.
Director General of Cipta Karya Diana Kusumastuti said the construction of AMN Surabaya was carried out by the PUPR Ministry since September 2021 and was completed in May 2022. This dormitory can accommodate 532 students and is targeted to accommodate 40% of Papuan native students (OAP) studying in East Java.
Apart from being a residence for students from all regions of Indonesia, AMN Surabaya also functions as a place to organize character building for the younger generation with diversity, nationality and archipelago insights. The implementation is supported by the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) which is expected to be able to form students who can internalize Pancasila values, tolerance so that they become superior generations in facing future challenges.
The State Intelligence Agency (BIN), which is currently headed by Police General Prof. Dr. Budi Gunawan, S.H., M.Sc. is a state institution that has a role as the front line in the field of intelligence in maintaining national security for the success of national development.
The development and implementation of AMN is a form of BIN’s presence as a representative of the Government to ensure that all students and academic groups are not easily provoked by notions that threaten the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and realize the development of Indonesian people as a whole, young generation who are strong and have an insight into diversity and archipelago.
