Jakarta – The Indonesian Football Association or PSSI will hold an Extraordinary Congress (KLB) to elect a new PSSI chairman. The congress will be held at the Shangri-la Hotel, Thursday (16/2/2023) tomorrow.

The congress will discuss five people who will fight for the position of chairman and five more for the position of deputy chairperson. From these names, Erick Thohir received positive opinions from various parties.

One of the supports came from the Ketum Asprov PSSI Aceh, Nazim Adam, who saw that Erick Thohir would be able to advance Indonesian football because he had professional and qualified experience.

“If you want Indonesian football to be advanced and strong, then you need a leader who has the capacity and qualified experience. That’s why we support Erick Thohir as chairman of PSSI,” said Nazir.

Regarding the professional and qualified experience capacity, PSSI’s trainer and Technical Director, Indra Sjafri also agrees. He said that there were five things that had to be addressed in the PSSI system. He said, PSSI must focus on improving the system so that it can compete with other countries’ footballer ecosystems.

“There are five things that must be repaired, one infrastructure, the second is curriculum, the third is development of trainers, human resources, including referees and so on, the fourth is player development, finally competition,” he said in a private television program, Wednesday (15/2/2023 ).

Indra said that in improving Indonesian football there are many things to do. He conveyed a message to the candidate for the general chairman of PSSI to be able to focus on developing the technical side.

“The general chairperson’s vision and mission, the general chairperson candidate agrees with the vision and mission, but the reality is that it has to be done from a technical point of view, because in football there are two things that must be developed technically and businessly,” said Indra.

“All technical activities, if this is good quality, the business will automatically be followed. Therefore, the technique must be improved, “he continued.

Furthermore, he stressed for the new PSSI chairperson candidate that it takes time to improve the Indonesian football ecosystem. Therefore, he hopes that the Indonesian football ecosystem will be able to compete with other countries.

“It takes time. Can’t be one year or 2 years. In other countries, there are long-term roadmaps, medium-term roadmaps, and short-term roadmaps,” said coach Indra Sjafri.

Indra Sjafri also said that in order to improve and develop the Indonesian football ecosystem, PSSI must be able to work with various parties including the government. The new chairman of PSSI is expected to establish good relations with FIFA. Because according to him, FIFA also made a big contribution in the competition that was carried out.

“So the five pillars that I mentioned earlier in the context of coaching development cannot be carried out by PSSI alone. I’m sure of that, so don’t think PSSI can do it alone. Therefore, synergy is needed between the government and PSSI,” he concluded.
