As the TUNAS Program is Underway, Parents and the Community are Urged to Support Digital Supervision
Lampung – The implementation of Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 concerning the Governance of Electronic Systems for Child Protection (PP TUNAS) is beginning to show a clear direction in strengthening child protection in the digital space. In addition, the role of parents and the community is considered key to ensuring the policy’s effective implementation on the ground.
Local governments, along with various stakeholders, continue to promote public awareness regarding the importance of monitoring children’s digital activities. This is in line with the increasing internet use by children, which is not always accompanied by adequate digital literacy.
Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal stated that children’s time at school is very limited compared to their activities at home. Synergy between the family environment and government policies is essential for effective, sustainable monitoring of device use.
“Support for this regulation isn’t just a trend, but a real effort to help children be more productive in their work,” Mirza said.
Rahmat Mirzani Djausal is optimistic that these restrictions will provide space for children to explore their potential in a more positive way.
“So, I think this policy is good for helping children focus more, especially when using social media and online games,” said Mirza.
Danny Ardianto, Head of Government Relations and Public Policy for YouTube Asia Pacific, emphasized his commitment to supporting the government’s program related to the Tunas PP. He assured that YouTube will continue to coordinate with the government in implementing this policy.
“We greatly appreciate the opportunity to communicate and reassure the government of our commitment to comply with applicable legal obligations,” he said.
The Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), Arifah Fauzi, also emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening child protection in the digital space through the implementation of PP TUNAS and Presidential Regulation No. 87 of 2025 concerning the Roadmap for Child Protection in the Online Realm (PARD) 2025-2029.
“The implementation of the TUNAS Government Regulation and the PARD Presidential Regulation also emphasizes the importance of cross-sector collaboration through a pentahelix approach. All stakeholders, from the central and regional governments, community organizations, businesses, academics, and the media, must play an active role in creating a safe digital ecosystem for children. Let’s ensure that every policy is truly implemented in practice. Protecting children in the digital space is a shared responsibility, and the success of these efforts reflects the state’s commitment to safeguarding the future of the nation’s next generation,” he concluded.
Through strong synergy between the government, parents, and the community, it is hoped that the digital space can become a safe, educational place that supports children’s positive growth and development.
