JAKARTA — The government continues to be committed to improving the welfare of lecturers by preparing the best scheme for the payment of performance allowances (tukin).

A number of strategic steps have been taken, including submitting a budget of IDR 2.5 trillion to the DPR and completing the harmonization of the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) which will be the basis for the disbursement of the allowance.

The Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Wamendiktisaintek), Stella Christie, emphasized that the disbursement of tukin requires cross-ministerial cooperation.

“This is not just a matter of the wishes of one institution, but there must be synergy with various parties,” she said when met at the UGM Vocational School, Tuesday (4/2/2025).

Stella added that since the establishment of the Ministry of Education and Science, her party has fought for tukin to be disbursed.

“We understand the importance of the principle of justice in the payment of tukin, but this decision must be based on clear legal regulations,” she added.

The Director General of Higher Education, Prof. Khairul Munadi, highlighted that tukin is a priority government policy in improving the welfare of lecturers and the quality of higher education.

He explained that the regulation process for disbursing tukin is quite complex, so university leaders have an important role in conveying accurate information to lecturers.

“The Ministry of Finance has approved a budget of IDR 2.5 trillion on January 23, 2025, which is intended for ASN Lecturers at PTN Satker, PTN BLU who have not carried out remuneration, and ASN assigned to LLDIKTI with a total of 33,957 lecturers,” explained Khairul.

The Minister’s Expert Team, Prof. Johannes Gunawan, explained that the disbursement of tukin goes through a number of bureaucratic stages.

“After the Presidential Regulation is passed, the Minister of Higher Education will issue technical regulations regarding ASN lecturer tukin,” he said.

He emphasized that the process is running according to the established mechanism and is expected to be realized soon.

The government appeals to the public not to be provoked by misleading issues regarding lecturer allowances.

All procedures have been carried out in accordance with legal provisions, and the government’s commitment to the welfare of lecturers remains a top priority.

Collaboration between ministries, universities, and related parties is expected to ensure the implementation of transparent and accountable tukin payments. (*)
