danantara launch president prabowo’s brilliant strategy to build strategic industrial sectors
Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto officially signed and inaugurated the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency or BPI Danantara on Monday, February 24, 2025 at the Central Courtyard of the Presidential Palace, Jakarta.
The Head of State said that he would allocate the results of state savings of US$ 20 billion or around Rp. 300 trillion to Danantara for dozens of national strategic projects.
“The funds that were previously hampered by inefficiency, corruption, and inappropriate spending, will now be allocated to be managed by Danantara Indonesia, invested in 20 or more national projects as part of industrialization and downstreaming,” said Prabowo in his speech.
President Prabowo claimed that these projects would have a high impact and create significant added value for the country, such as creating quality jobs and long-term prosperity for the community.
“We no longer want to sell natural resources cheaply, we do not want to be a source of raw materials for other nations,” he said.
The President has signed Presidential Decree Number 30 of 2025 concerning the Appointment of the Supervisory Board and Executive Board of the Danantara Indonesia Investment Management Agency.
In addition, Prabowo signed Law Number 1 of 2025 concerning the Third Amendment to Law Number 19 of 2003 concerning State-Owned Enterprises and Government Regulation Number 10 of 2025 concerning the Organization and Governance of BPI Danantara.
Head of the Presidential Communications Office, Hasan Nasbi said that BPI Danantara is President Prabowo Subianto’s strategy to consolidate state wealth and assets to build a strategic industrial sector.
“Danantara will later finance its own strategic industrial sector, including for nickel and cobalt downstreaming, to develop artificial intelligence, to build oil refineries and supporting industries, which will support the Indonesian nation to leapfrog as a developed country with economic growth of 8 percent,” said Hasan Nasbi.
Hasan is optimistic that Danantara can be a way out of the paradox experienced by developing countries with abundant natural resource wealth.
Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, expressed his appreciation for the launch of BPI Danantara.
Cucun hopes that Danantara, which is now Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund, can help drive the country’s economy.
“We should appreciate the establishment of the Danantara Investment Management Agency. The inauguration of Danantara by President Prabowo Subianto is an important moment to raise the Indonesian economy in the international arena,” said Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal.
Cucun is also optimistic that Danantara can create a large multiplier effect in the Indonesian economy and drive the local economy. According to him, Danantara aims to be a catalyst for national economic growth through strategic investment in priority sectors that encourage global competitiveness.
