JAKARTA — The government continues to strengthen the guarantee industry as a key strategy to drive national economic equality.

Through broader access to capital and the enhancement of Human Resources (HR) capacity, it is expected that Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) will be able to scale up and contribute more significantly to Indonesia’s economy.

In this regard, the Assistant Deputy for Financing at the Ministry of Cooperatives, Niken Wulandari, emphasized the importance of strengthening UMKM’s human resources.

She pointed out that business owners need to master financial management based on digital technology to improve their competitiveness.

“Digital technology will make it easier to manage cash flow, which can be learned through various training programs,” Niken said.

Sabilil Hakimi Abizuar, Senior Business Development Officer at the Ministry of UMKM, also highlighted the importance of resilience and toughness for business owners in facing economic challenges.

He emphasized that changing the mindset from merely seeking income to generating greater profits is key for UMKM to develop.

“To level up, UMKM must shift their mindset from just earning money to creating larger profits. The Sapa UMKM program aims to build confidence in financial institutions to further support UMKM,” said Sabilil.

PT Jamkrindo, as a credit guarantee institution, also shows its commitment to supporting UMKM and cooperatives.

Wahyu Hidayatullah, Head of Business Division at Jamkrindo, revealed that by December 2024, the total credit guarantees had reached IDR 300 trillion, with an open capacity of over IDR 200 trillion.

“Jamkrindo guarantees UMKM with viable businesses. We hope the recovery process runs smoothly so that credit guarantees become healthier and more sustainable,” Wahyu explained.

With collaboration between the government, guarantee institutions, and the business community, the transformation of UMKM towards larger scales is increasingly within reach.

The optimization of the guarantee industry is believed to accelerate economic equality and support the target of Indonesia’s Golden Vision 2045 as a tangible goal that can be achieved.
