Government Optimizes Village Development, Eradicates Poverty, and Achieves Economic Equality

JAKARTA – The government’s efforts to develop villages, eradicate poverty, and promote economic equality have shown positive results.
The Republic Institute released a public satisfaction survey regarding the performance of ministers in President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s cabinet.
The survey placed the Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions, Yandri Susanto, as the top minister in this area.
Conducted between January 18-25, 2025, with 1,400 respondents, the survey showed that Yandri Susanto received a satisfaction rating of 75.5%.
Public trust in the village development programs and food self-sufficiency from the villages were key factors contributing to this high satisfaction rate.
“The village development and food self-sufficiency programs have received positive responses from the public, especially in rural areas,” Yandri stated in his remarks.
Moreover, his direct approach to the public through work visits and staying in villagers’ homes was seen as strengthening the relationship between the government and rural communities.
“Direct interaction with rural communities allows for real-time program evaluations and ensures that residents’ needs are met optimally,” he added.
In addition to Yandri Susanto, the Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf and Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar also received high praise for their contributions to village development and poverty eradication.
The survey showed a satisfaction rate of 71.6% for Saifullah Yusuf, while Muhaimin Iskandar received 70.5%.
During a meeting with the Deputy Governor of the Riau Islands, Nyanyang Haris Pratamura, Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo emphasized the importance of synergy between the central and regional governments in poverty alleviation.
“We must change the mindset. The Family Hope Program and Beneficiary Groups should not just be social assistance, but must focus on empowerment. The community should be directed towards production,” said Agus.
The Riau Islands Provincial Government has also committed to supporting community empowerment by providing skills training tailored to market needs.
“Training should not just be ceremonial but must be practical so that people are ready to work or become entrepreneurs,” said Nyanyang Haris.
The Ministry of Social Affairs continues to push for empowerment programs that align with President Prabowo’s Asta Cita vision, placing poverty eradication as a national priority.
With strong collaboration between the central and regional governments, it is expected that the welfare of rural communities will continue to improve, and economic disparities will be addressed sustainably.
